I think both coverages are worse than BBC was in its final year or two of having all the races.

IMO BBC undoubtedly does better/more interesting/entertaining build up and post race analysis. Frequently the Sky stuff comes across as too dry for me and missing some of the 'magic' of f1.

However commentary-wise i prefere sky purely due to Brundle. However the best commentary team for me was Brundle with DC, to have them split makes both commentarys weaker.

Few little extras with sky, like more programs and GP2 stuff etc, but not enough to match what BBC used to be for me. Its a shame as i thought the BBC had really hit upon borderline perfect coverage before the bbc/sky split.

I boycotted Sky due to phone-hacking, but now the Beeb have Jim-groping. I'm going to have to go to F1 races in person now.
I forgot all the holier than thou people that took the "boycott Sky stance" due to Murdoch. They must really be struggling for TV content!

I dont have Sky so I can't speak from personal experience of it. However I do watch the BBC coverage and I do read this forum. The impression I have is that the BBC coverage has gone Top Gear style where the presenters are there not only to provide information but also to provide entertainment, and if this is the case I'd assume the intention is to bring new viewers, partners of existing viewers etc on board. From reading the descriptions of the Sky coverage it would appear to be more orientated towards the F1 fan.

As regards TV Coverage you prefer I think the answer is always going to be the one you watch. If you have Sky then generally you'll watch Sky and because you are watching it regularly you'll prefer. If you watch the BBC regularly you'll prefer that, and if you flick between you'll prefer the bits you see on each channel.

I think every time we have had a channel change or commentator change there have been threads on this forum hating the change, but of course as we get used to it it becomes the best ever.

As regards going forward I'll continue watching F1 on the BBC and if it moves to Sky only I'll go without. The reality is that until I am forced to go to pay TV I won't as I can find enough to watch without paying, so the £360pa is better in my pocket. I suspect that is now Skys issue, those who are going to sign up already have. By introducing F1 free to existing customers they have got them used to it. If Sky introduce charging will they downgrade? Thats the issue.

Almost as good as Gary Anderson's fag packet sketches... wink
Is that what he's trying to draw? I did wonder... wink
Rascal.

Actually, I have found his few contributions and sketches about F1 technology far more informative and interesting than anything that has gone before in TV coverage. The BBC should deploy far more of this underused talent. For me, there's always been far more to F1 than the drivers and cars going round and round. Maybe I'm in a huge minority ... smile

I wouldn't have said "so much". Evan brundle calls it wrong sometimes, I guess cos they're watching multiple monitors and info sources where we're just focussed on the one. I've found croft to be quite acceptable, he does display keen knowledge of the sport, has enough self control not to shout over brundle, tends to only interrupt him with something important developing and then apologises, obviously see's brundle as team leader and knows his place. Take note JA. Certainty with all the bell ends we've had to endure over the years I'd rather not risk replacing him...
