1 – You say you sold the cars at a loss (which was my original point) why on earth would you do that if your trying to make a business out of it?
I take it you're not in business?

The first of something will always cost more to make than it's worth as the sum of its parts. Doesn't make it worth more when you sell it.

Also, as far as building the business going forward you need to remember that old saying - "Speculate to accumulate".

I did wonder that point. Has anyone eve made a profit on a year old race car after building it from scratch?

Thorney haven't sold Gilham 2 new cars, at the end of the day they're 2nd hand so they will be sold at a loss from the original build cost.

Thorney, if you have a look in the BTCC 2012 thread, there's a couple of points I've mentioned and a couple of conclusions I've taken educated guesses with from what I've been told via someone whose worked in the paddock this year. If any bits are wrong/inaccurate then please take the time to correct them/reply to them. Better to have all the facts with these discussions after all. See thread link below.

It’s like talking to a politician, never responding directly and instead making another point surrounded in more bullst.

My opinion of you is nothing personal it is formed from what you write. I have no problem with What you do and I admire all the new teams who are putting it on the line and giving it a go and your trying your best that’s all anyone can ask of you.
I’m sure your end of season review made a great read for anyone not involved but for anyone who is involved it is clearly a fairy tale.

Your “Pity card” I have only mentioned about bits where you had the same chance as everyone else but make out your hard done by. The number of staff and the motorhome situation for example. No one has a problem with you admitting fault, who would? So please don’t twist what I say.

What I struggle with are my original points which you have danced around without facing them.
Why make out you are the first constructor when you know you are not? Why say Tony bought two cars when he bought one and a spare shell? Why make out that’s a good thing when you know you made a big loss on a car that’s only done 3 races (I think its three?) Why say Stockton was ill when he wasn’t?

Again, I could go on and on. There are so many things that just don’t add up.
I don’t want to dislike you and I’ve never met you so I will point out again that this is not personal! You can make up excuses and more stories but you know in your heart that a load of what you say is very distorted or pure fiction!

I am not in business no. I take your point but who is going to buy them after this one?
Unless they are extremely cheap and even then there are already second hand car around and at the end of next year there will be more. So choose between a second hand MG/Honda or new insignia at the same price as an example.
Also most of the teams will build a customer car, I’m sure if you wanted a Focus Motorbase would build you one.

Again, it just doesn’t add up!

Life's all about different opinions I guess and as I said I see little value in arguing with you, sorry.

However a couple of points.

GPRm are the official Toca supplier and designer of a lot of the parts, they built both the Audis, all the toyotas and the proton. That makes us the first fully independent builder, I fail to see how that is an issue for you? Since then a lot of the teams have done xtra work on the cars but at the time we built our insignias that wa the situation. I've never said we sold any more than 1 car and the second shell. We made a loss on the first cars but the project in that regard is a success, the fact you fail to understand this is not my concern we are building more for s and for others, that is a success at this stage. I have a lot of time for Chris and see no need to comment on the state of his health, if you heard different then thas fine, gossip is nothing more than that.

I guess once you’re in so deep with your lies then you have to stick to them hey?
My issue is not who was the first fully independent builder it’s the fact that you and I both know the truth and you continue with the lie! And that is my issue with ALL the points I’ve called you on.
I have tried to explain this to you already but at this point I feel that talking with you resembles hitting my head against a brick wall.

This has brought me to the realisation that you actually believe your own bull and there is probably little to no hope of you seeing sense.

His last post was on the 30th October and was his typical angry rubbish, however he did it in a forum that is actually moderated so maybe he got banned.

Reading some of the blurb from Thorney reminds me of the amusement value on the forums over the urgent "Thorney doesn't recommend Momentum 99 and suggests it's customers never use it again either" press release from earlier this year, with no reasons given other than "More to follow", which it never did.

I guess it had nothing to do with the Tesco/Momentum sponsorship deal going to MG/Plato hehe Seems like coincidental timing that the end of sponsoship meant no more recommendation of the product.

Edited to add - just reading through a few archive threads on one or two of the Vaux based forums, where there's a statement saying that it's basically all down to Tesco's because of the high cost of legal fees that ruined Thorney's BTCC race budget for this year. Well i guess that's a rather useful/handy reason to explain away an uncompetative car.

On a side note, hopefully Ollie will still be driving the AmD car next year, and they'll be pushing further up the grid cool
