Love the Indy500, but fk me this is desperately ste, a young black lad that can't sing, followed by an old white geezer that can't sing, all after some kids trying to shoot rifles.

please get on with the race FFS
I dont really see the need to point out the skin colour of the singers for any reason. But considering how often the british national anthem is butchered in F1, The americans have got us beat, back home in indiana is a long tradition. it could be sung by a dying cat and it would be cheered out there.
It's called adding colour to a description, but feel free to see racism if you want, personally I just think they were both st.

Looked like Rahal's wheel was off before he crashed.

yes just saw the pit stop replay. They had problems tightening the left rear and sent him out before it was completed.

Could have been very nasty for Conor. That’s how John Surtees son died IIRC.

Henry was hit on the head by a wheel/tyre that came off another car. Can't happen now.

The additional safety kit they've added the last few years to the various single seater series are really beginning to show their worth but that could have been much worse. Very lucky that just walloped the nose.

Lucky that wheel didn’t ping the other direction and go outside the track where people are walking. Definitely had enough air to leap the catch fencing.

That’s exactly what just happened to Conor! Rahal’s wheel hit the front of his car. Another two feet and no aero screen....

I was at that race at Brands Hatch, very strange atmosphere descended after we saw the replay. They may not look overly elegant, but halo or aeroscreen, if they save just one life then its worth it.

It (still) can if the wheel isn't fitted properly/securely after a pit-stop for tyres.

Just wondering if Mclaughlin can do this on only 1 more stop when the laders need 2. He was one of the last ones to pit under the safety car.

I’m so glad I’m not watching this on TV in America. It seems like the ratio of adverts to racing is 60:40

Same for Justin Wilson with a detached wheel from Sage Karam's car.

If there is a caution, Dixon could just win this.

I believe it was the front wing wasn't it? Either way, not something you want to be hitting at 200+ mph.
