Unpopular opinion, but I like Will Power. I think it's because he's such an odd guy.

How can Dixon be that fast while dragging his beachball sized gentleman's vegetables around with him?!

I read that during practice Ericsson reached the highest top speed ever reached in any formula car race in history, at 392,47 km/h..

That's 243.8 mph so it's not the fastest, Paul Tracy hit 256.948mph at the Michigan International Speedway in 1996.

There was even a 250mph club - https://racer.com/2014/05/24/indy-500-the-250mph-c...

Caught up on this last night, what a run from Dixon! I also love how into the sport his wife is! The atmospher over there feels a lot more club sport than the likes of F1 with family in the pit lane and drivers casually talking to each other whilst watching the runs.

My overriding impression from watching the wives and girlfriends is one of them thinking

"Please don't crash"

Rather than

"Please go fast"

Grosjean looked scared and said he was scared after his run. I know it's his first go, but still.....

Colton Herta walks away from a nasty-looking practice crash, with air getting under the car and flipping it:

Hearing Brian Herta's instructions reminded me of a crash course I went on. Apparently in a road crash where the car finishes upside down the most common serious injury is after the car comes to rest. People tend to undo the seatbelt then fall & break their neck.

It was scary even though just a simulation. They put me in an A3 on a spit type device. They then rotated the car so I was upside down & taught me how to get out without undoing the belt.

He says he’s okay, and that they’ll be ready tomorrow with the spare car.

Well done to the modern safety standards and the first responders. You don’t ever have a small accident at Indy.

Still can't get over these aero screens. They look like Le Mans cars that have been fitted with a sunroof.
