I di find it a bit ridiculous that there was stuff on the track that made the whole track unusable, this is supposed to be a big series, yet they are being made to run on a track where they can only use half of it!

Sorry but it makes the thing look a bit, no very amateur!

Yes agree. Reminded me a bit of the old Scalextric “skid chicane” - you didn’t mess with that little baby...

TMS has been messed with over the years to help NASCAR and Eddie Gossage has literally ended up scraping the barrel by using traction compound (used in drag racing) to help glue the cars to use the upper lanes. The problem is that the stuff is completely unsuitable to Indycar, not just NASCAR (even though it works on other tracks).

Great to see that especially how well SM is doing having been so quick in Aussie super cars for so long he’s really showing his quality doing this well in Indy cars: I hope Grosjean avoids having his usual crash fest at some point in the season as the risks are much higher in this series when things go wrong ( nice to see that he can show that back of the grid in a Haas does not mean he is not super quick just F1 is all about the car).

As Coyn said, he has a quality record pre-F1. F1 is a unique series that doesn't let drivers shine without the car but lower formulae do. I'm not at all surprised to see him top the tables. But he still has tyres to learn so if he manages a podium with the likes of Dixon in the mix, that will be a result.

Don’t say that it’s all the car. Hamfosis will come and eat you up in no time

Nah it’s all good. You can claim it’s all about the car if you like, but if that’s the case you have to accept that Schumacher was rubbish as was Prost, Senna, vettel, Fangio and now max. :-)

As Alonso found though, a large part of Indycar is still about the car....while they are ‘identical’ chassis, there’s a lot of components you can change within the suspension/ dampers etc etc and you become very reliant on your engineer, so it’s still very much a team sport.

Chuffed for Roman he deserved that pole. One thing I’ve found with Indycar over the years is the more experience you’ve got of running a track, the better you do...it’s why the likes of Dixon and Newgarden are so hard to beat.

It will be interesting to see how quick Roman is when they get to COTA.

Really do enjoy Indycar, I think it's such a shame Sky don't push this series more. I mean I don't think I've ever seen highlights on Sky F1.

Looking forward to this.

Grosjean's doing a great job & really want Harvey to have a blinder as well - followed him since his Formula BMW & F3 days and as a beneficiary of RSF support. Whatever happened to RSF?

I always forget that Ed Jones is British as well - Dubai-born, but think he still retains his UK nationality?

I do like the lack of blue flags in IndyCar - it works for them on their circuits - they might change their minds if they ever had t race at Monaco!
