Congratulations to Helio on win number 4, superb! He comes across as a genuinely warm & lovely Guy, really enjoyed his celebrations. True passion, joy & enthusiasm. Chuffed to bits for him & the Team, what an achievement!

I think that's the cleanest '500 I've ever seen, other than the bizarre, Pit lane Brake issues & Rahals wheel, no nasty accidents & relatively few retirements of any kind. What chance of Helio going for win #5 in '22??

A win on his debut for Meyer Shank Racing, their best result at the Indy 500 since Jack Harvey finished 3rd in 2019 and their very first IndyCar race victory.

I think he will back with them if not again this year definitely next year at Indy.

The way half the grid and quite a few other drivers came to congratulate him was nice to see as well. he's driven for or worked with most of the grid!!

Thanks! It could have resulted in a massive crash either on the track or on pit road. Seems a lot of risk for tiny gains but I guess that’s motorsport in a nutshell.

Hot take Pato O'Ward in at McLaren F1 once Danny Ricc's contract is up? he seems the real deal and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on at the YD test at Abu Dhabi.

Difficult one. The differences between Indycar and F1 are significant.

O'Ward has done well, but it would be a risk for a top 3 or 4 team, like McLaren now are.

I can't recall a driver moving into F1 from Indycar since Juan-Pablo Montoya.

I listened to the excellent 'Beyond the Grid' podcast with Jeff Gordon the other day, which is relevant.

Gordon had a few tests in F1 - notably for Jaguar and BAR. However, as he said, he was winning in NASCAR and would likely have had to drop down the grid or even to a lower series to maybe come back up. That takes a real desire to do F1 and big risk-taking attitude.

McLaren are a well run, well funded team who will, I hope anyway, be chasing podiums much more regularly come the new regs next year and maybe even chasing wins and the WCC/WDC. If they like him, he already has the McLaren connection, Jeff Gordon had none of those things.

Whoops, I guess that's why he's leading the championship.

The point still stands, even if it's a little bit inaccurate.
