Krisstofferson not in the final ,first time for ages for that ,not that he cares having secured the Championship in Latvia
Nice to have a different winner. The old man will be chuffed that junior has done something he never managed to achieve.
Missed out on catching up with any of the rounds since the summer though, so had lost touch with who won..!!

Hoonigan AKA Ford pulled out of 2018 but Peugeot Hansen increased commitment with Loeb still on-board.
Hope Bakkerud finds a drive for next year.
The Norwegian barmy army at every round will be disappointed.
No doubt Ford pulling the plug is a major setback for the series. Not only that but presumably all that Monster Energy money that was being ploughed into WRX via the Ford presence too. Wondering how it will play out in 2018...Bakkerud definately deserves a place somewhere.Hope Bakkerud finds a drive for next year.

WRX need to take a long hard look at things right now.
THey have lost Msport and Hoonigan, Ekstrom is possibly going and that only really leaves VW and Peugeot. That is very far from a good deal for fans.
And the less said about Silverstone the better.
They are having a round of the British rallycross series there in March, and I will go to that, but the prices for this ridiculous effort they are putting on with WRX are borderline scandalous.
But as usual, people will feel the urge to go anyway, last minute no doubt.

Not a chance... But as usual, people will feel the urge to go anyway, last minute no doubt.
For me it will be the first time I would have missed an International RX meet in the UK since the 1987 European round at Lydden Hill...!!

I understand where you are coming from, but if you buy the tickets and attend then nothing will change. The only way that Silverstone (and those people now running the WRX) will reconsider thier decisions will be if there are empty stands at Silverstone. Wow, just checked the Silverstone website and prices are shocking. You even have to dig into the website to find the event as they don’t seem bothered about promoting it on either their home page or list of main events.
What is it about this circuit that everything has to be so expensive and anti genuine Motorsport fan, are the management / directors getting a cut? Too much marketing bull crap targeting the corporate side which the management / director seem only too happy to buy into.
It’s a real pity that Donnington didn’t have a realistic redevelopment plan back in 2008 to put it up to them.

I am thinking that due to the awful response form people, this event might not just die quite quickly. I have not seen many favourable comments from anyone so far, and the track is not getting much positive comment either.
They will not get much interest from true rallycross fans, which as sad as there are a lot of us about.
They could market it to appeal to the yuppie types who don't know what it is.
But I am guessing even they will be put off by the prices, as there is not much to see. With events like this you need to start low, get people going then ramp it up, that's what Palmer does, and ot works for a few years at least, then move onto the next thing.
And the fact Silverstone are not doing much promoting means either they are quietly going to drop the big show element and just have rallycross.
But I suspect you will see a marketing push late this year and early next.

This is a thread about rallycross sorry mate.
To add further tot eh Silverstone speedfest thing.
I just had a look on the website and they are saying early access ticket sales are now closed.
three quarters of a year before the event is held?
Is that normal? Or have they realised people are not interested an they are going to either announce a new price structure or can the event altogether and run next years at Lydden?
If they have sold any tickets they would have to refund them if they are doing the former, an administrative nightmare.
But it does look odd that Mid October, and possibly before they have already stopped selling cheap tickets. You can usually get them for months and months and well into the new year cant you?

Little of it makes any sense at all. We as mere motorsport enthusiasts and paying spectators just have to accept that between them the organisers of WRX and the Silverstone Management are coming up with just about every tactic they can to f**k up an event that has the capacity to be some of the most exciting motorsport out there. To add further tot eh Silverstone speedfest thing.

And whilst it's a damn shame, I refuse to be mugged off by these people. And I thought the BRDC (who own Silverstone) were supposed to be promoting motorsport and making it popular... with WRX they have pissed off all the legacy spectators by ending 50 years of RX racing at Lydden and then replacing it with a banal, overpriced junket for corporate guests.
And with thier fiddling with the rules, they appear to have also annoyed FoMoCo to the point where they've dropped out. Everyone give a round of applause to the WRX management!
Had a fantastic day out at the Cape Town round yesterday. Extremely well run event, great ticket prices and the 1st semi final was some of the best racing I have ever seen!. Pity that Block lost so many body parts in the 2nd semi final that he was disqualified for an underweight car. The support for Solberg was amazing to behold and his 3rd place in the semi final by thousands of a second was flipping crazy.
Liam Dorran hinted at Global RX coming to Lydden some time ago. Great to see it's happening. I'll be there and won't touch silverstone with a barge pole.
Wondering if Liam will enter too?
Surpised this hasn't been spoken about more recently https://www.autosport.com/wrx/news/134257/world-rx... It appears that the headline category will be electric from 2020. Supercars will still race but still
