Another good race I was surprised at how little the safety car came out in those conditions, the championship has been blown open now.

Rumour has it Bright will give up his full time seat becoming the Enduro driver & Stanaway taking over the Mega Fuels PRA car.

That was a cracking set of races it's a shame it's now down to the two of them but it's going to make for a thrilling end of the season.

I was really hoping it would start drizzling mid race on the Saturday. As it turned out, they were still both excellent races but I will be 100% rooting for McLaughlin at Newcastle.

It looks like Stanaway is getting Brights drive in 2018 now he's retiring from full time driving.

Scotty only needs to finish 10th or better to secure the championship even if crazy Whincup wins

Wasn't gonna watch the race thinking it would be a walk in the park for Scotty. How glad am I that I decided to watch it.

Holy cow. What a way to end the season.

Reviewing the footage shows Scott crossing the pit lane entry line at 34kph and his limiter set at 38, absolutely no way he was speeding yet the penalty led to the chain of events that cost him the championship.
Poor showing by all those involved

No one told him to put Lowndes into the wall.. He dropped it into the tyres all on his own then chose to have another crash. The pit lane penalty was st but spinning Simona and taking Lowndes out was all his own doing and he’d got to a position to be champion when he did it.

He wouldn't have been in that position without the penalty, which the team were adamant was unjustified.

Lowndes on fresh tyres looked ominous though didn't he.

As the commentators said, if Mclaughlin was speeding, SVG must have been seeing as he closed up in that section when he was hidden from the speed camera by SM.

Thrilling race, really wanted Scott to win, he's been the quickest all year but reliability has cost him dearly. The championship is over 26 races and you need regular points to win it, but it certainly made for an exciting finale.

He didn't deliberately put CL into the wall but it happened SM knew that if CL got in front of him it was over & CL knew that if he got in front JW would be champ so you had two hard chargers giving it & their all.

The penalty was a joke & it's that decision that cost SM the championship everything that happened afterwards was a consequence of that penalty.

It certainly made it a thriller, that DNF at Bathurst was very costly & very smart by 888 to get JW out so he could at least get some points.

Thanks for running the 2017 thread, you did a great job, astonishing that it's only 9 pages (just) for 26 races when one dreary F1 race can generate 40 pages (30 of them petty arguments wink ), I think difficulty in finding quality coverage plays its part but still surprising.

Remember to call it just 'Supercars' for the 2018 thread, looking forward to it already.

Cheers, Cheddar. thumbup
