The comments you raise have nothing to do with the MSA it is down to the club and their officials (who also have volunteered) perhaps if you did some more events you would begin to wonder how many mugs, beanie hats, pens whistles etc you actually need. Happy to except them as at least it shows somebody is thinking of the marshals, similarly I don't get upset if I don't get anything.
All registered marshal have this year received a pack with a tabard in. Lets face it you can buy one for £2.50 from screwfix.
I've been on multiple events this year and had offers of mugs and benies, both of which I've declined. I've got 2 cupboards full of rally mugs, and as a non hot drink drinker they are just sitting there, coming in quite handy for screw/nut & bolt holder tho if only they were sports direct mug size! please don't take me for one of these once a year marshals currently plaguing events. I agree on the tabard, usually turn up with last years one in the bag, but I didn't last year after having a bking the previous year off someone claiming to be "very influential within the organisation" (organisers dangly and everything) for having a sector tabard on when there was already 3 sectors on the junction and I wasn't down as one (i had been sector the previous day so again only got one given to me and not received a marshal one for the 2nd day.)
I got my 2017 pack. with my XXXL MSA tabard. even with my winter jacket on underneath it still turns into a sail on me so I cant wear it. The flask was a nice touch I thought, until it leaked all over the place the 2nd time of use :rolleys:
Surely an option to exchange the tabard for a better sized one would be beneficial. there's one lady in club so slight that it literally falls off if she tries to wear it

Only lately?!
The punishment for Jock is way too much I think. And in making it way too much it's now all over social media and even on the BBC News website. A couple of days ago very few people knew about it.
I wonder if they'll be taking action against the MSA-accredited photographer who took the picture and posted it on social media? Not the cleverest idea given the scrutiny rallying, particularly Scottish rallying, is currently under. Yes it was a prank and most in rallying know that mooning at your mates is a bit of a tradition. I doubt the Sheriff in charge of the FAI will see it that way though.

Jocks photo was published with his permission I've been told. obviously all done in the lighthearted jovial sense, until the fun police caught wind of it. Interested to know had it been done by anyone other than the recognisable competitor would anything have come of it had it say been me doing it?? I doubt very much.
Here's the link to the ruling;

Have to agree it sends out the wrong signals at so many levels

here we go the 3 knobjockeys are named here!
Shakedown times for WRC Spain- quite a close set of figures, with just 2 seconds difference between Ogier and Elfyn in 10th. Andreas showing his worth early on. I know its only shakedown but straight on the pace in yet another new car to him. Fingers crossed Kris has a clean event

A British winner.....and very little interest. Somewhat different to the F1
However, nice result for Kris & Paul, well deserved, sensible, but fast pace. Job done!!
Nice drives from the M-Sports pair, Seb & Ott; now 1-2 in the drivers championship - and M-Sport are 4 points away from the Manufacturers crown.
Bit of a disaster from Hyundai - may need to redesign the wheel/ suspension area...
Really pleased to see Juho with a nice result; since his 3rd place in Finland, we've seen the Juho who shone in the IRC; I hope he can keep his seat.

Fantastic day for Uk rallying, with Meeke putting in a perfect performance, and Chris Ingram winning the ERC Juniors! Hopefully he can progress on to an R5 car next year!
Fair play to Hanninen, he was awful at the start of the year but has bounced back impressively in the 2nd half. He certainly deserves a 2nd season on rate of progression alone.
As for Hyundai, oh dear! M-sport could seal both drivers and manufacturers titles in Wales. And with Ford pulling out of World Rx, hopefully that means they will back the team next season.

I'd love that to be the case, but I read somewhere - possible Business Weekly that Ford are looking to provide $16bn of savings....Fair play to Hanninen, he was awful at the start of the year but has bounced back impressively in the 2nd half. Exactly!! A shame the level of interest, in the UK isn't as it could/ should be.....
To me, a lot of it comes down to coverage. It says it all when roadside fan videos are the go-to option to see these cars at their stunning best. The TV contractor has to find a way to balance the excellent in-car footage with more comprehensive roadside stuff.Personally, I would ditch the (hugely expensive) helicopter cameras, which mainly serve to make the cars look slow because of the distance perspective. Instead, I'd reinvest the budget in a number of high quality HD cameras, which could be loaned (with a small fee paid also) to some of the skilled fans who make the brilliant roadside videos we see on YouTube. The rallies are so compact now that it wouldn't be beyond the wit of man to have an off-road moto ready to collect the various SD cards and get them back to TV HQ in time to compile a longer and more exciting highlights show.
The live stages are a different matter, of course. But we have to start somewhere...
I don't know the inside story of course, but that just feels like a bit of a st move all round.
Performance-wise it's a big risk for Ott (my favourite driver), while it all but confirms that Ford aren't piling into WRC in any significant way, since if they were surely Malcolm would have per$uaded him to stay...

So Tanak is off to Toyota; can you blame him? He’ll be paid as a top line driver and will hopefully get up to speed with the car & team pretty quickly. However, he is walking away from a known strong package; pretty fast everywhere, and reasonably reliable. Who will benefit from this? Will Ogier stay? Will Elfyn step up to the main team alongside Sebastien?
So, it seems like Ford Performance won't be backing M-Sport. What is particularly galling, is that a top team, and likely double World Champions can’t attract a major big money sponsor. Something is wrong, and maybe outside the sport it’s still viewed as ‘unattractive’ which seems ridiculous.
