What's your callsign? We were on the top at the wind farm.

Out on the Wyedean tomorrow?

Radnor 1 started 80 minutes late, Radnor 2 cancelled. Glad I didn't bother going!

Likewise! I love a night stage so was thinking of heading up for Radnor 2, but was only put off by the £20 per car charge! Hope what ever caused the delay isn't too serious.

The delay was caused by the MSA safety delegate demanding more marshals I read so I suppose it's lucky they managed to get one run in.

Managed to get out to watch a section of The Rally of The Tests today, only to find out they were competitive on some of the lanes I take my daughter home from school on, woohoo

Anyway,

Haven't long got back from Radnor; Yes, the MSA Safety Delegate stopped at Junction/ post 7, (a hairpin left) and behind him was the 00 car; they were there for quite a while 'discussing'. An official asked any of the speccies whether there was a MSA Registered Marshal present, who would like to step in and Marshal that Junction/ post. Fortunately, someone did, (I think his name was Paul) he & a friend both 'signed on'. Official asked for a round of applause for his actions - as the MSA Delegate was keen on cancelling.
Another Marshal appeared about 10-15 minutes later in a 4x4; and eventually after a delay of more than an hour the stage got under way.

After it was completed, and people going back to their cars at about 15:30 - 15:45, we all wondered what time the 2nd run was. Nobody knew.

Seemed most people were making a brew and a bite to eat, and about 16:15-ish a Marshal informed everybody the 2nd run was canceled due to lack of/ no Marshals.....

A shame and hopefully no more cancellations this weekend.

I was on Radnor and can back up what he said,I was at J2 when a safety car arrived, looking for marshals, radioed to get some, drove off,a long time later ,zero car turned up,one of the two marshals that had been there drove off up the stage and eventually we had rally cars.

I took a 'burst" shot of this,27 pics in all, only pic I took with the phone.

I had a bad feeling run 1 wasn't going to happen, just glad it did and not surprised at cancellation of run 2.

Utterly pathetic to be honest.

They ran stage 4 which was non spectator yet cancel the last Radnor when all they had to do was finish and trailer up to Carlisle for a relatively late start tomorrow. First Radnor was very late, how did they not know marshal count? And there are no asking of anyone to be marshals, nothing after the stage to maybe think it might run, second time, they clearly made the decision very early into the first running, all needed an early night I guess. i saw one guy. not that many there. Most of the people there were hardy fans and would have gladly donned a tabard for a few hours. Surely? To let it run.

Yet probably more marshals on 1000 metres of Shelsley than there were in 14 miles of Radnor. ridiculous, even though they were probably hill regulars.

I know it must be tough, a Friday etc. But surely, surely they knew this might be a possibility. First Epynt was non speccy, cancel that for Gods sake, not the one people have all paid to go to. And people have travelled miles to attend. Cost me about 60 quid in fuel and entry's. Not happy.

Or shorten it and make the rest a road section.

Just means I will never go again I am afraid.

You can't just turn up and marshal any more, you have to registered with the MSA.

As an old timer from RAC's of the 70's is it completely wrong for me to say FFS?

Which is what happened in Radnor; they asked for any registered MSA Marshals.....

Personally, I'm gobsmacked that this weekend we have the Roger Albert, the RAC Rally of the Tests, plus the Wyedean.......
Getting marshals for rallying is getting harder, so for one weekend in mid November we have 3 events, all requiring marshals.......

It would be nice for events to communicate, so this doesn't happen.

Really enjoyable day out in the Forest of Dean, even with the rain in the morning! Spent the day between car park B’s spectator area and junction 6a and saw some great driving and many big moments! Car 19 had a massive moment on stage 3, just about hanging on to it over a fast left.

The marshalling was pretty relaxed from what I saw, almost too much in places. It’s no wonder people get annoyed when at one event you can go wherever you want and others you get shouted at for doing nothing wrong.

I actually found some good places to take shots from for a change, so pictures will follow.

Shame to hear about the stage cancellation on Friday.

Made it up to Kielder for a few stages on Saturday. Was fantastic.

Was good to meet you Ryan, hope I didn't witter on over anything too important on the radio!
Always good to put faces to user names mate thumbup didn't disturb anything coming over the radio, as there was literally nothing coming over for most of the weekend!! no results or anything, not sure it was just where I was located both days so not picking any chatter up or if it actually was that quiet. Dyfnant was hardest as could barely get control over the radio and had it turned up max to hear, which then blew my ears when someone closer came through clear as day!

Out on the Wyedean tomorrow?
I was using Taurus 1's set on GB as he had it hard wired in to the van and I was supposed to be assistant but ended up as operator.

Epynt stages were all speccy weren't they? I only say this as I saw pics of someone I know doing setup of what looked like a speccy area of black and yellow tape?
If it was in fact non speccy, then it will run with less marshals than a spectator stage.

this has happened a few times, and seems to happen more and more. A few of WRGB's stages were touch and go as marshals stayed away. both stages we attended were either lacking marshals on junctions before or after ours, meaning we had to stretch our team out thinner to accommodate this.
have found on a few national events this year too that there's been more sign on and spectate incidents than normal.

I think only one of the Epynt stages was spectator from the website and advice, the other was non.

So for us at Radnor, cancel the non spec, and try and get a few over to Radnor, or maybe think about shortening the second Radnor to at least let it run.

I am guessing they shouldn't even have run the first due to how few marshals there were around us I saw two in the space of a couple of miles.

Saw a few photos of those morons, trying for a darwin award!

Chasing down Neuville didn't go so well for Latvala - final stage error must be gutting for him after so much improvement in his consistency this year (and pretty unlucky, it hardly looked like he cut at all while Ogier got away with smacking a bank and spinning between the trees on saturday). Thats motorsport though isn't it.

Happy to see Paddon get a consolation podium after the year he's had, kept it on the road to take advantage of others mistakes. Hopefully we see him back to top form again next season and with the mechanical gremlins ironed out of the car.
