That is so, so sad frown I'm glad that he survived the accident as it was one of the worst I have ever seen, but those injuries will be absolutely life changing for him frown

A quick question for anyone who may know - would the same speed crash in an F1 car pretty much be harmless based on likelihoods with all of the extra safety etc?

Some F1 crashes have been seriously horrific and people have easily walked away but this one did look pretty much like hitting a wall square on to be fair.

An horrific accident, but I was somehow shocked to learn that Billy has lost both lower legs. I hope that this, while terribly severe, is the full extent of the injuries and Billy suffers no further complications.

What a shame cry
Same here, easy to see straight away that it was a severe accident but didn't expect the result to be quite as bad as that.

Absolutely horrific, hope young Billy battles through and can come back to racing one day.

While not surprised the news is still awful to hear. Can only hope he can draw some kind of inspiration from the great Alex Zanardi, and go on to still lead an amazing life.

Desperately sad news about monger, although such injuries seemed likely from the nature of the accident. Hopefully the motorsport community will pull together to help him and his family through this.
I think it says a massive amount about the motorsport community and fans that they've already raised over £90,000 in just a few hours.

Taken from the link

"Due to the injuries sustained and despite every effort, Billy has sadly lost both his lower legs and now faces a huge challenge to recover and return to a full and active life."

I didn't say any more so people would click and hopefully just give what ever they could.
