They've chopped A pillar structure and door bars out of Jeff Smith's car from the look of those pics as well.
Aron Smith reported to have concussion and fractured leg by 888. Forgone conclusion but confirmed he will take no further part in the weekend.

We can confirm that;
Aron Taylor-Smith (#40 MG Racing RCIB Insurance) suffered a fracture to his left leg and concussion. He was closely monitored in hospital and was released late last night.
Luke Davenport (#300 Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Duo) is currently in intensive care in an induced coma, and is in a serious but stable condition, with multiple chest injuries, lung damage, broken right leg, broken pelvis, broken right arm and concussion.
Jeff Smith (#55 Eurotech Racing) is currently in intensive care in an induced coma, and is in a serious but stable condition, with multiple chest injuries, extensive shoulder injuries, broken left arm and concussion.
All of the above injuries, whilst very serious, are not immediately life threatening.
We would like to thank the BTCC Medical Team, marshals, Croft Circuit staff, Air Ambulance crews and all staff at James Cook Hospital.

Not the biggest fan of the BTCC series but this is terrible and I hope that all the drivers recover soon.
Oil or not, I can see track changes being required, am I right in thinking thats at tower bend ? or sunny in/out ?
ETA: Apparently davenport has internal bleeding, BTCC doctor interviewed and appeared to try and play down his situation. "He's just having a sleep"
Jeff Smith has 7 broken ribs and dislocated both shoulders. Thats going to take some time before he gets back in a car.
The other driver that broke his leg will apparently be at the track they said.
Jordan's car has had a new rear valance welded in, some poor bloke drove 265 miles, arriving after midnight to deliver parts.

Alot to say about that race...
Sutton and turkington are a different class to the other drivers, meters apart for pretty much all the laps and did they touch even once?
I'm normally a defender of the BTCC when the one post wonders drop into these threads and complain that it's not a patch on the 90s but have to say that in race 1 most of the rest of the field were a joke with the amount of body parts flying around the place.
I think the BTCC and the stewart's have to take some of the blame, letting shedden take a win by rear ending the car in front at the last round sends a clear message that this kind of driving is acceptable.
Also disappointed to see Wookie from here engaging in the RAM to pass method, the vw driver was obviously not happy about that.
Clearly a case of too many Sunday race drivers with too much money, zero respect for each other and they should hang their heads with shame if they get any satisfaction from that type of driving...

I agree, the standard of driving was awful. It wasn't just the constant ramming but they were all straight lining one of the chicanes quite blatantly, I don't know why they bother having it if nobody is required to go around it.Sutton and turkington are a different class to the other drivers, meters apart for pretty much all the laps and did they touch even once?

You obviously missed Sutton's push to pass on Shedden at Oulton in race 1 then? Sutton and turkington are a different class to the other drivers, meters apart for pretty much all the laps and did they touch even once?

Will be interesting to see if the fully ballast laden front 2 gap the field as comprehensively in race 2 as 1? Until the 2 Scoobs hit each other there was only 2 FWD cars in the top 10.

I wouldn't do it to everyone, what goes around comes around. Shame the TV camera was on his bumper as I don't think he actually complained about it!Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
