Sandbagging is a result of BOP but Ford have taken it to the extreme.
BOP bought in because they needed to equalise the ford against others because it's a new spec car being introduced before the old ones were grandfathered out of the class

So they made the problem, then took advantage of it

Absolutely stonking lap from the Toyota, the difference in reaction in the Porsche camp was almost comical!

flurry of laps in GTE Pro - Porsche comes from nowhere to be trumped by Magnussens' Corvette, which itself gets beaten by the Ford of Bricoe.

Top 9 GTE Pro within a second and we could have another round to come yet.

BOP-ing and sandbagging is the motor racing equivalent of trying to pull the wool over the handicapper's eyes in horse racing; and getting a light weight for a major race. Overdo it and you get pulled in for not trying....

Apologies for ropey quality

Not too much to say that hasn't already been said really - Kobayashi going like absolute bd, Porsche concentrating on race pace, P2 fast, not enough P1, Balance of performance, art car, Ford having a moan.

That about covers it smile

If you bothered to read the comments instead of posting knee-jerk reactions you'd see that my comments are directed to the 'are they / aren't they'.

As is turns out it would appear they were given how close they got to pole time, so I'm really not sure what you are getting so indignant about.

Indeed.

Those of us who were at Le Mans last year saw fords tactics.' With our own eyes and could see the exact same pattern this year....hense the scepticism when they were 4 seconds off the pace in practice and complaining about the BOP.

As it turns out the ford MAGICALLY found 4 seconds of pace and qualified 4/10ths off pole and only 2/10ths off the Ferrari on the same tyres. Bearing in mind the ferrari is the base car used for BOP the ACO have done a good job to get the cars in GTE pro +- 0.3 seconds from the Ferrari (apart from Porsche) over a 4 minute lap. In normal circuit length terms that would be 0.15 seconds.

Basically the ACO have done a good job, ford should stop whinging and be thankful they are racing at all.

Let's not forget the Ford has had a special dispensation to race since they are currently racing an illegal car....

It's surprising that considering how blatantly Ford "cheated", according to the fans, that none of the other teams with so much to gain - Risi especially - or the officials ever did a single thing about it...
I'm pretty sure there have been lots of discussions in the background, it's been mentioned by several drivers and teams (INCLUDING RISI!) but it's down the the ACO to sort it out and not the teams. The fact that the ACO have done nothing about it shows that they are confident that they got the BOP correct and just waited for ford to put their foot on the accelerator

Presume that's figurative as the ACO reviews all the electronic data, including throttle input and fuel flow to expose s*n*b*g*i*g. The GTs qualify in P5,8, 9 and 12 which suggests an honest reflection of max pace. Monster lap by Kobayashi

Apologies, why is the Ford considered to be illegal and in what way do they have a dispensation. I genuinely don't know. Thanks

Homologation reasons around the fact that there aren't many Ford GTs being made and they have only just been delivered to customers (possibly not all yet either)

They are definitely teabagging though....

They entered a car to 2018 regulations 2 years too early (as did Ferrari) but unlike other cars they haven't produced the 100 road cars as required by regulations. It needed agreement from all other teams to allow them to race.

Hense the sour taste after last year from other teams...who allowed them to race and got shat all over by fords tactics

Yeah, it's totally a legitimate thing to mention in every single post. Not a "knee-jerk reaction" to something that happened last year and blew over for everyone actually involved in the sport.

A car went faster/slower than in another, earlier session? SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON? SANDBAGS???
1) how do you know the teams did nothing....
2) I haven't accused anyone of cheating...your words not mine
3)...if other teams did nothing it's not up to them anyway, the ACO sort out the BOP not teams. This time they have got them correct (there abouts)

4) when a car is slower by 4 seconds in other sessions and ford complain about the BOP..but then when the ACO don't budge when ford complain they go 4 seconds quicker...after running 6 hours worth of practice and qualifying sessions off the pace...also if ford improved by 4 seconds through track evolution then all teams should have improved by roughly the same amount...come on, get real

Given how all the other GT teams are whiter than white compared to Ford, I might just pop down to Porsche Centre Mid Sussex this afternoon and have a look at the new mid-engined 911...
