You've got to admit it is much easier to go quick when relaying. If you get a problem with the car you just send another one out whereas with a single car you have to fix it so lose loads of time in the pits. That's proper endurance racing. wink

Where did you get your minimum lap time info from ?

These were the original regs but had removed the min lap times from the last regs they sent out. So a few of us were lifting for no reason. Doh!

Glad the minimum lap time stuff was dropped, always thought it was silly.

We came 2nd in 1600cc class and first non relay in the class. I was not driving this year but had fun working as crew.

I also agree that relay is not proper endurance racing. So much easier to handle change in conditions or technical problems when you’re running multiple cars.

Yeah, they also changed the minimum mandatory pit stop number to help you Caterham boys too. It was 8 in the draft regs, 9 in the final regs. We could have done the race in 5 stops without accident damage .

I was meant to put my PH smilie on the car to let other PHers know it was ok to approach but forgot!

If your going to be like that we’ll stop lifting next time trying to let you catch up ;-)

PS how did you get accident damage?

Certain drivers didn't follow my instructions which were "Drive at no more than 90% and above all don't crash!"

This is the first time the RoR hasn't clashed with another event so I was finally able to come along for a few hours on Saturday.

I can see there's a good turnout of cars, but do you get many paying spectators at this event?

Just curious, that's all.

Well done to all drivers and teams. A fantastic event that goes from strength to strength, Mission Motorsport are doing a brilliant job
I was very fortunate to be one of the weekends SC drivers and hope to be invited again next year.

For the members that run cars in this event what sort of cost is involved in running the event. Starting club racing next year with 750mc and this event could be a good way to end the season of next year.

Welcome to the racing world Chris, I do 750 Roadsports and some Enduro, what series are you planning on doing with the club next year?

I can't tell you what it cost to run your own car in ROR but there were arrive/drive setups available from about £1800 upwards for a 1/4 drive I think (3 hours driving of the 12 total).

Am building a mev exocet for class c in the sport special series. I built a road going version some 5 years ago when I was 19 been doing trackdays and 2 years of sprinting in that time so decided to go up another step sold my old kit and starting of with a brand new build. So just in process of mocking it up then be stripped down painted then finally built up.

It cost me around £9k in total to prep and run the car in RoR this year. That doesn't include the wear and tear on the car which is around £1500 for the 17 hours of running the car did over the weekend.

I dunno, results are pretty plain to see who is and is not relay! Of the top 20 13 were relay teams, of the remaining 20(ish) only 1 team was a relay team!

Of the top ten, the top eight were relay teams (7 Caterhams of various configurations, one Elise relay team), the following two were Elise's designed for endurance racing, then in P11 the RKC/TGM Sport guys (that lovely Civic) who are usually found circulating places like Spa etc for 24 hours at a time.

So between 10 and 20 there are 5 relay teams, so an even split, we were P20 last but one of the relay teams, we turned up with three cars (not the four suggested on the results) and four drivers, all our cars are sprint cars designed for 15 min races and it showed.

We are considering none relay next year in the Compact Cup class again but its alot of prep work and money to spend on one of the cars setting it up for endurance rather than Sprint. All of this might see us move to a C1 for next year, it might not though smile

Relaying wasn't cheating for us, just financially sensible(ish, my car needs a new everything hehe )
