If some of the teams weren't so greedy in cost of drives heard 180k for the top teams guessing that was motorbase maybe be more confirmed entries than what we have. THe problem being is it's club racing it's being run by a club level club with a new series which is expensive with no exposer for sponsers/teams etc.

Really can't see it going ahead.

Not a lot of Confirmations. Thing is with the tcr, every single car is built to a one for all tcr spec meaning a driver and team in say the tcr Asia can come over to UK and race here too. Chances are there will be a lot of one off guest races from teams trying to give their drivers as much seat time as possible and if the numbers for the UK are small this suggest the talent of it will also be limited so good opportunity for other teams and drivers in other series to come over and get race wins. Will be interesting to see how all this plays out. Either way, tcr UK will never outshine the btcc which had to be somewhat the aim of its Introduction
I'd love to see a tcr vs btcc shootout just for fun. Would be alittle bit like the dtm vs gt500 showcase that was put on at motegi. For the record the dtm cars were around 6/7 seconds a lap slower than gt500

Media day has been pushed back too allow teams more preparation to get sponsers and drivers signed up. In reality its too give another few weeks o get/bribe teams to join to make it look not like a flop.

so the big TCRUK test day today, which was going to also be their media day, had the grand total of just 7 cars running.
what a complete joke.

surely they will have to cancel this series.

It could be some not bothered with the media day being cancelled but teams should be out testing as much as possible by now. It’s not looking good.

Well having spent all day at Silverstone, i can say that unless there is a massive influx of last min drivers this will be a massive embarrassment. Also who ever said this was NOT a media day was being a bit cheeky, as drivers were getting pics taken next to their very shiny cars, the organisers were making sure the sponsor logos were in the correct places and doing several laps behind a camera car dose not sound like normal days testing!

Here's my vid from the day fr anyone who interested:

Plenty of series have poor turnouts for practise days. It's a Tuesday after all and testing isn't cheap at any time.

So what are saying is when btcc turned up with 8 cars in 2001 that should have been cancelled too and tbh less than that actually tested and the cars other than Vauxhalls were useless.

Considering most of the country was covered in snow over the last week or so and no media day to have 7 out isn't too bad. Th first year I think will see a small core group of runners and other teams and drivers drooping in and out of the series throughout the year.

this is a series that announced it will have to run a series of qualifying heats because of the huge demand. and 8 months later with less than 4 weeks until the first race they have just 7 cars on the track (and less confirmed drivers than even 7).

the reason why there’s so few cars is very simple: most eligible drivers and teams obviously don’t think much of it and have spoken with their wallets.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. No-one wants to join until they know a decent amount of others are doing it.

The same thing is happening with one of the series I race in that has been going for years. Five weeks until the first race and only two cars are entered yet we had over 30 last year and I expect we will again.

I wouldn't be surprised if a number of European teams made the trip over for a few races.

Also, the Motorbase Golf is for sale....

Looks like Tom Boardman also isn't doing this now because of BTCC.

Interesting at the recent test the TCR cars seemed to be lapping faster than the BTCC cars did last year. If that's correct then it's a lot of performance for the money. A brand new NGTC car would cost you at least twice that and would only really be eligible for one major series.

TCR at 59.3 on a cold test day versus BTCC 2017 pole of 58.6

Our series is supporting the opening weekend of TCR UK and I am looking forward to seeing how the pace ramps up on race weekend.

Yeah, Silverstone is probably 1.5 secs a lap faster now since the resurfacing.

Still there are a few people who have driven both who say there is nothing really in it and if you look at the specs of the cars I don't see why that wouldn't be the case. Plus the test day started off very wet and was pretty cold all day. Guess we'll find out.
