Monte entry above - Citroen obviously taking the manufacturers seriously with only 2 cars entered.

Not many drivers electing to choose it as a points scoring round in WRC2.

Prediciton;

Ogier
Mikkelson
Tanak
Evans
JML

Meeke to retire...

The Monte has become less of the 'lottery' event that it used to be - it's now a 'normal' type WRC event. I'm not sure whether that is down to the tyre choice being limited, but I think 2011 was the last time we saw a massive shake up in the classification due to weather & tyre choice. Another event similar to that would be welcome.

Every stage is live on WRC+ this year. Footage is pretty good tbf.

This is the first year in a long time that I don't think a French man will win the championship.

Live is no good, I don't have time to sit and watch whole stages. I'm not a subscriber either.

Call me an old fart, but I'd just like an hours summary programme on the Monday/Tuesday after the event. Oh yes, on a free to air channel as well, one which I can set my HDD recorder at the start of the year.

Lol, what on earth else is on at Cadwell other than BSB! And they have two rallies a year there, one MSV the other not.

You are happy to fund a pointless series, I am not, no trolling required, or no rudeness, something you appear happy to be good at.

Calling a well supported series 'pointless' is rude.

How is it pointless?

It has a good following, and provides good entertainment for paying spectators.

Hmmm, Hyundai will need to massively up their game if that’s going to be the case.

The Hyundai is more than quick enough, the drivers just need to learn some consistency!

I was kind of gutted to miss out on a trip to the Monte this year, but with a slightly weaker entry list and temps forecast to be in double figures I don't think it's so bad. Might try and organise a trip in 2019.

To be fair the Hyundai wasn't the most reliable car in 2017 either, especially the first half of the season. With the gremlins ironed out it should be better this year.

Depend son what you want from an event.

I simply feel that MSV have realised that is a winter of discontent, and started charging punters more than it really should be to watch a fairly tame chicane filled rally on their race track, or half of it anyway.

The first year the series ran it was OK, I went to a few rounds and it was fun. But they were all a tenner to get in, no advance, no crap charges.

That sort of stuff just peeves me sorry.

Its an utterly club event, so just let it be that, dont try and make it into something its not. Dukeries at Donington is only a tenner I think. MSV event was a lot more.

It's not much money I know, it's the principle.

I didn't stay to the end ,I was never likely to and SS6 was stopped when a Subaru crashed and the crew needed medical

attention and the rain was getting bit worse.

BUT ,one of them ,I think the mainly black car was holding fourth place at the time.

One of the Ferraris didn't make it through SS1 and the white car was a bit slower.

Escort MK2 no4 was holding the lead to the 306 Maxi at the time.

Mark Kelly won in the red escort, if there were a few more stages I think Chris West would have caught him tbh.

Roll on the Cambrian and back in the forests smile entries are looking good so far.

This ^ Ali. There's no doubting the car or indeed TN's speed, but the car was unreliable, but more importantly it broke when the drivers hit things, and it shouldn't have done. By upping their game, I mean build a car that's fast. reliable AND strong.

well just started my weeks trial of the new WRC+. I'm in work all weekend so can hopefully take full advantage of it. make an educated decision if I need the full package for the rest of the year then, or if I just make do with RedBullTV and the free codes (if any this year) are given out for WRC+.

Monte starts tomorrow night. I've no idea who's going to take it, Ogier obviously one of, if not the favourite. Gifted the win last season but as he's now had a full season and serious development time in the car could still be the strongest contender.

In local rallying news, Brean Sands Stages this weekend too. never been but hear its a decent little event around the caravan park. gutted not to be going down this year as my nephew is part of car 28's service crew.
Entry list looks mixed and pretty decent - http://www.crswrallies.co.uk/entrylist.html
