Are you always so fkin negative and miserable ? (deep breath) Anyone going out to watch the Lombard Rally this weekend ? Excellent and varied list of drivers and cars , all the info is on their website , ever so slightly envious as they'll be going past my old house and a few mates competing .You just wouldn't be surprised though would you!

I didn't even know it was on. reading up on the website it seems more of a road tour with a hillclimb chucked in than anything else. or at least as I can see. Would love to get out and see what is an awesome entry list from both cars and stars. But at near on 3hrs one way drive its just too far this time

I did it in my Cooper 'S'. Great fun and there were so many fantastic cars and great crews. Porlock Hill was fun and Brian Culcheth drove Whizzo Williams' famous Cooper 'S' (120MNP) up the hill with Ace Harrison in the 'other' seat.
Brian lives in Porlock so that should've been a good run . If you don't mind me asking , what was the entry fee ?You are going to think this strange, but I don't know. My son entered me as a special treat, probably for helping him build his 1978 Escort RS2000 rally car.
I did the event with a very dear friend, Bill Rogers, with whom I started my time in rallying in 1959 when we were aero apprentices and fellow light aircraft pilots. He lives in Arizona and flew over specially.
Although not a competitive event, it was great fun and it was good to see all those fantastic old rally cars being driven again. It was also good to meet up with so many old friends again. The 'Old Guard' was out in force, although a lot of us wil be meeting again in a couple of weeks at the bi-annual 'Ecurie Cod Fillet' (Google that) reunion.

what was the entry fee ?
From the Lombard Bath website - What does taking part cost? The cost of attending the two dinners and taking part on the saturday run is £300.00, with a second person in the car taking the cost to £425.00. This is subject to entry being received along with full payment by 31st December 2017.
Entry in 2018 will cost £325.00, with the cost for the second person in the car taking it up to £460.00 in total.
Whenever you enter, a deposit of £100.00 is required with the entry.
Hyundai possibly showing their hand in pursuit of the manufacturers title, and to give No1 driver TN a helping hand by entering all 4 cars down in Australia should he need it. Unknown whether this was a season long intention or a recent development given how Thierry's grasp on the crown has slipped thanks to the Toyota/Tanak surge!

Think that was an error from someones tweet earlier in the week, Sordo isn't on the entry list AFAIK.Edited by GravelBen on Wednesday 24th October 01:48

Kris has a drive in a Skoda first weekend of November on the Condroz rallye in Belgium.
Saw that, he'll probably have a point to prove. He'll want to come out with a win.Pericoloso said:
He will probably be top seed ,so unless Neuville turns up as it doesn't clash with WRC ,he "should" win.
I'll be following it closely. I'd to like to see Thierry turn up just to make it spicy. And if he did, I couldn't see Meeke beating him on his home turf, especially in a Skoda he's unfamiliar with. But I'd be keen to see how they would trade times. I think the Fabia is a better platform in that class than the i20.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
