Jack Goff has confirmed he hasn’t got a BTCC Drive this year. A real shame I reckon. Always gives it everything and always exciting to watch. I wonder what he’ll be doing instead.

Mixed feelings about the last 3 announcements if I'm honest.

Plato's move is good, for him at least, he should get his 3 wins for the 100 total in that car if nothing else.

I can't see why Proctor would move away from the team though, I can't see him getting better results in the Subaru but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

and finally, I'm gutted about Goff, his drive at Snetterton against Sutton last year was incredible, he's talented, he's mature when it comes to TV interviews and although I know it's about money, it's still a big shame he's missing from the grid but that's the way it goes I suppose.

Only 3 left to confirm now, one PMR, on BMR and the final MG with the silly team name.

I was quite looking forward to the prospect of Plato and Proctor together at pmr.

I think Plato moving to PMR is great news, should stir things right up.

If Sutton joins him in an Astra, those 3 wins might be hard fought. Boy was no slouch in the fwd TCR cars.

Sutton will either be in bmr or tcr in my opinion. Been very quiet on the mg front after the early announcement of the new team. Be interesting tok see who will be in the 2nd seat.

The BRDC Superstars press release yesterday seems to confirm his return at BMR.

It'd be like 2002 all over again.

Only if he can be bothered this year. He’s looked like a spoilt brat in recent years, and I wouldn’t br surprised if he does the same this year. The championship doesn’t need him anymore imo.

I do feel like Plato and Matt Neal might be on the wind down the last few years. The younguns are more numerous and winning a lot. Dare I say it they do it with a bit more class about them as well.

Beg to differ on that. There has been massively more interest in his drive announcement on social media than any other including Blundell. Ask any member of joe public to name a BTCC driver and I bet the few who know what you're talking about will say Plato.

The series will obviously need to do without him at some time but to fade away after the last two seasons would not be good for anyone.

I totally agree with his comments on why he appeared to be not trying at times. People might not agree with them and think someone should give 100% all the time but personally I think that only really applies when you're a hungry, young gun fighting to prove yourself. Otherwise motivating yourself to be 19th rather than 23rd is a big ask when you're used to being at the sharp end.

I could be talking bks of course never having been at that level of motor racing but I know at that's how I've felt at club level and when rules have changed to make my car competitive again the motivation has come flooding back.

His argument would stand up more if his team mate wasn't winning in the same car....

Agreed. There’s only so long that he can dine out on his past victories. If he doesn’t turn up this year he’ll find it tough to get another competitive drive.

Ash is a bloody quick driver and would drive anything quick and make anyone look slow, he's a hungry young racer looking too prove himself compared too Plato that has always driven fwd cars apart from a year in ascar an back before his first year in the btcc. The first year with the Subaru proved he could drive it quick and win with it but the changes made to raise centre of gravity and his start line crash at brands everything went down hill. Also Carl faux left the team soon after and with the change of engine supplier I think he gave up at that point and was just there too keep the car in one piece as he had a contract too do so.

The pmr team has some of the old 888 guys in their so Plato knows the team well and back in a fwd car where he belongs be interesting too see if he can get back up to speed.

If he's found wanting again this year will that be the fault of everything but Plato also? All he proved last year is that his heart isn't in it as much anymore and that his younger less experienced team mate wiped the floor with him, theres enough wasted seats on the grid, without Plato becoming one of them

No such thing as a wasted seat. Everyone who is there has put the work in and deserves to be there.
