Has anyone here been to Le Mans? I'm tempted to go but no idea what that comprises apart from a hoon there and then camping.
If you want to sleep at any point, don’t camp at the track. And if you want any sort of decent facilities that aren’t shocking halfway through the weekend don’t camp at the track hehe

Plenty to do in the days leading upto the race, pit lane walk is really good on the Friday. Few different events all over the place.

For the actual race the Dunlop curves are the best place to stand at the start, all the cars coming through together on lap one is spectacular. Try and get down to Arnage/Indianapolis at night, watching the cars come out of the dark and then disappear into it again from one end of the small straight and out again is something it’s tricky to replicate anywhere else. Traffic and parking down there are mental but well worth it.

Oh and be prepared to drink ALL the beer/local cider.
Cheers! Sounds like fun!

Highly recommended. Especially if you find somewhere to camp that serves cold beverages on draft. Lukewarm stubby bottles to do get boring after a while hehe

Delighted he had nothing to do with the win, dislike him due to various stunts / moves he pulled over the years at lemans and his arrogant attitude subsequent to these actions

Oh and of course Alonso is a shining light in these respects. Definately not arrogant, has never pulled dodgy moves, held up his team mate in qualifying, benefited from his team cheating or got fired from a team because of stunts he pulled against the team owner and other driver.

His rudeness and arrogance towards Le Mans pitlane reporters put me right off him.

FIA WEC app. £8.99 for the Le Mans 24h package. Perfect streaming quality.

Live Timing
Choice of cameras
Cast to TV
No advert breaks

Why anyone would bother with Eurosport is beyond me.
Because you're ignoring Eurosport Player exists.

I do this every year, without fail. Sign up and subscribe to eurosport player, you get a free 7 day period in which you can cancel and not be charged. You get the raw TV feed, no adverts, no commentary, just car sounds and the usual timing info. You get onboards, presumably the same as everyone else.

Couple this with RLM, all for free. Oh, and you don't have to put up with the WEC app unreliability too.

I remember going to Silverstone years ago and laughing myself hoarse when Davidson dropped it into the gravel at the first corner. After pulling off some stupid F1 type passes and dives

he comes across as a typical spoil brat, did nothing in F1 and for some reason Peugeot and Toyota think he is a sports cars driver, all I ever saw himn do is pull stupid moves, get hissy when people got in his way and not win Le Mans.

So fking annoying when races get decided after the fact. Imagine now being told you ‘won’ but missing out on everything that comes with it officially at the time!

Would you rather they kept the win despite blatantly (from what has been published) cheating with an illegal part in the fuel system?

Yes it's annoying for those who really win but infinitely preferable to the alternative. There's no real way around it that I can see. It takes time to investigate something like that.

I think it was quite boring this year, Toyota running away at the front and a contrived artificially created GTE race and stupid rules about maximum laps they do before refuelling. GTE cars should all run to the same weights, and technical specs non of this equalisation. If a manufacturer makes a car too heavy that's their problem.
