The team running it are very greedy and have been for some years let's face it.

I used to go with me Dad when it started, must be ten or so years ago and it was fun, relatively cheap, good racing and a massive variety. Bikes, nice car stands, which let''s face it should not add much to anyones reasons for going.

Then it became big, low rate bands started appearing, ticket prices went through the roof and I stopped going as it was dearer than most other meetings I would attend.

This year was stupidity, Le Mans classic, then Goodwood and now this, the market is massively overloaded, the entry fees even for drivers are insane after LM and the ticket prices are not short of scandalous for what is basically a historic race meeting with some two bit covers bands and UB40 thrown in.

Glad people are saying it was crap, hope this might make the greedy sons of a bhes running it think again about the format.

But this might be Silverstone as the WEC round is also massively overpriced this year and you just feel as a fan you are paying extra to cover F1 hosting fees, hence why Ihardly visit Silverstone anymore.

Did you watch WEC at the Red Bull circuit today? Stands practically empty

If Silverstone cannnot turn a profit over the F1 weekend with 300,000 visitors they are doing something very wrong.

Absolute classic event virgin here, first time I've been, and personally I had a great time. Loved being close to the car, loved the track action, great weather and atmosphere. I'll be going again, but £70 is steep. Obviously I don't have a basis for comparison - is say the Spa event much better?

I would have loved to have seen some group B's and C's though. I also feel like for the price, they could have rented out the Porsche test track and thrown some old rally cars around there since it used to be a SS stage after all.

I did the Sunday this year instead of Saturday, still a good day but I’m definitely going back to doing the Saturday next year. It was a bit quieter this year on some stands, Goodwood FoS being the week before won’t have helped with that, the event could do with being pushed back away from FoS a bit to get more entries in.

I got back this morning from Silverstone after a great weekend and atleast the weather was almost perfect throughout the weekend. Lots of great cars and some good racing, Jake Hill in the Elan did a great job although I think he was quite lucky with the safety car, the historic touring car challenge had some great cars on the grid. I can't moan about the cost, it worked out around £16/17 a day for me. A days entrance at my local circuit is £15. I'll be going back again next year.

Have to say that was the best day (Saturday) of motorsport I’ve watched in at least a decade. We used to get t the silverstone classic in the early nineties when it was sponsored by Coys and it’s just got better, the clubbie feel has gone but it’s a better event for it.

Got there around 1030, watched a race at woodcote, went to the Porsche club to meet family then down to the wing paddock. Actually we went over the bridge on hanger straight to hear the 20+ DFVs at full throttle first.... the wing paddock was quiet, we walked down the garages, watched the grids form, then watched the races from either end of the paddock, some at club others at abbey. Highlights were watching the T70s on the opening lap from abbey piling on the power and the Le Mans cars from club rounding Stowe with the lights on which looked great. Met Sir Chris Hoy too which was nice! That elan was rapid and the way he threw it into abbey was brave to say the least and deserved the win. #fever

The gaps between races did seem a bit long but free grandstands were a nice touch and means you can walk round the circuit and sit in the shade.

The comparison to goodwood doesn’t work, goodwood is for the spectators, silverstone classic is for the drivers. There’s no waving to the crowd or showing off, its just racing. I went to goodwood this year and was quite disappointed. Ironically the “right crowd” were at silverstone where there was “no crowding” and yes I know that was brooklands catchline but goodwood wants to be brooklands so badly.

Well , we all benefit from your non attendance . If only you'd also bugger off from the various forums you haunt to spout your stuck record gloom about Silverstone , Goodwood ,the motoring press etc et bloody cetera

Glad people are saying it was crap? Christ , I bet you are the life and soul at parties...

I went for 3 days , cost me about £17 per day ,saw amazing cars , great racing (at a poor circuit to watch I admit ) , enjoyed access all areas and spoke to lots of fellow enthusiasts and drivers , all of whom loved it too .

Obviously there' s something wrong with me

It rolled on the international pit straight during the race on Saturday evening.

WEC is the same price as last year as far as I am aware.

That was European Le Mans Series, not WEC. wink
