That's just a halo with "aerospace" grade plexi? I thought they said that halo doesn't work on ovals due to the vertical bit being in a way...

That headlines as bad as Alonso on pole for Le Mans, or Alonsos car quickest in Daytona test....

It's the hoop above their head they don't like. This year they have just a solid vertical strut in front of the driver for protection on speedway courses.

The central bit was also an issue but you're right about the hoop.

That said, looking at the pictures of this new solution, it clearly is just a slimmer halo with plexi wrapped around it. It'd be interesting to hear drivers explain what they changed to make this not an issue, maybe a slimmer profile was enough.

So. Here’s a thing, it’s race day and there’s a big build up to the race.....so while you’ve got a bit of time, YouTube Freedom 100 2019.

How good could a race be with just 11 cars...and only 8 after the first couple of laps?

Quality over quantity...that’s all I’m gonna say.

Catching up on news for the race later on, realised that Pippa Mann has managed to qualify by right in 30th, without needing a "bump" space.

Given that this is with another band new, rookie team (like McLaren) with limited budget (unlike McLaren), she and the team have done a cracking job, shaming McLonso even further.

Not enough prominence given to this performance IMHO.

What time is the green flag please? Watching in the UK.

Found it, not to worry.

I think even more impressive was Hanley in the Dragonspeed

Think more coverage would have been given but Juncos stole the headlines beating Mclaren

Looking out of my window now (10.24AM EST) the clouds are high and the sun is shining. I think we'll be OK for the start of the race but rain is predicted about an hour in. Let's hope it blows away.

Go Colton!

Was very enjoyable, but why so few cars? I've watched a few Indy Lights races over the years, and the field has always seemed to be that sort of size.

Right, that’s Monaco out of the way, now for the Indy 500.

Can’t quite believe that this will be the first time I’ll have ever seen the race live from start to finish. All other attempts have been via dodgy streams from about half distance onwards.

That was a horribly strained rendition. (The home sweet home thing, not the anthem)
