First off, glad to hear that the driver is apparently OK

Bu if you ever needed proof that curbs are dangerous....

After last week's tragedy at Spa I think everyone at the track must have been fearing the worst after seeing that.

Initially saw that on twitter from the angle looking back down the main straight and thought it was from a computer game.

I didn't realise they had sausage kerbs on the outside of parabolica, that is absolutely crazy.

But it is all born of the lack of gravel now and the huge tarmac runoffs

Was watching the race live and had a moment where I feared the worst; they didn’t show the replay for a few minutes afterwards.

From what I could tell it looked like the halo might have saved him, it must have taken most of the hit when it landed on the barrier.

If I were driving this weekend I’d want that kerb removed, it could have been worse and if something faster repeated the accident it could be much, much worse.

Apparently it has been removed. The work to do so delayed the final practice of the Formula 1. Hopefully it's now being used to slap the individual(s) who thought it should have been there in the first place.

I watched it 3 times and I couldn’t figure out where the car he’d hit was before i realised it was a stupidly placed kerb!

Some takeoff angle that though...

Someone needs jail time for st like this. Fortune means the lad is ok, but having something on the track like that should be illegal

Devils advocate- he should have gone wider rather than go straight over it with the plank on his car

Matters not really

Maybe he could have avoided it, yes, but there should never be a feature on the racetrack, or run off area that can actually cause such an accident

Hope he and his team press for the maximum penalty against the track owners

... and hopefully the track owners pass their bill to the cockwombles at the FIA who mandate these stupid things!

Jail time ? Too much emotion for sensible thinking. Get a grip people.

To be honest that is the worst result I have ever seen for a sausage kerb, or can you show similar?

They have removed it and perhaps will put this result into the data bank

Meanwhile ...

Yeah, lets have sensible thinking, like holding idiots to account who allow these incidents to become possible. I mean, even if there were not clear evidence of it happening before, there is, then it is not beyond the capability of even a modest brain to think that allowing those to be on a track that could result in such an incident is endangering lives. Maybe we should get a grip and wait for when there are further incidents?

It increasingly seems that some of the current safety measure put in place are causing more problems than they are solving.
