Much as I like Evans, if Monza gets dropped I don't think he should be crowned champion based on 6 events [Edit: and a couple of those have been pretty short affairs to boot].
For me, what would be fairer would be a "superseason" like they did in WEC, whereby the points accrued so far are carried over to next season. So Elfyn still gains an advantage but has to earn the title the hard way, as has always been the case in rally.
Thoughts?

I'm hopeful that the Monza rally will still go ahead, other Italian events have been happening and it's predominantly a single venue event. If it does, the season can be properly wrapped up with a champion.
MSN Circuit Rally championship was supposed to be starting this weekend at Oulton, that idea can be scrapped unfortunately. Was a great entry list as well.

what a curious thing to say. They've all had the same chance, and at the moment Evans is ahead of a 6 times champ. So he deserves the title. I also think that no one would be saying that the championship isn't a proper one if it looked like Tanak or Ogier were going to win it. And as for a super season, just no. If Evans wins this year, he then has the chance to demonstrate whether he is the best next year, as do all the other drivers. For me, what would be fairer would be a "superseason" like they did in WEC, whereby the points accrued so far are carried over to next season. You have to make the most of the circumstances and he has done just that so far.

Surely Monza can go ahead , inside the confines of the circuit .
F1 can do it in Imola .
One day is currently planned to be on public roads in the region.F1 can do it in Imola .
It'll be interesting to see how they get the stage mileage inside the circuit. Imagine the fun if there were to be splits and merges!!

I didn't now that bit , suppose there's not much scope for a full or part WRC type event inside the circuit .:
I went there last year for a non Grand Prix event and walked the entire circuit inside and it's not that big there .

Seriously, though, you're fully entitled to your different opinion, but I don't think it's a "curious" thing to question the validity of a season cut so dramatically short...

You a Welshman by any chance?

nope not Welsh, the user name is the limit of my Welsh language ability, all random words you find out and about in Wales.Seriously, though, you're fully entitled to your different opinion, but I don't think it's a "curious" thing to question the validity of a season cut so dramatically short...
...and I still think that EE would be as deserving champion as any other although there will always be a question mark by others, over this season if EE doesn't win another title.
Well, the first stage at Monza is already complete. Bit of stressful Shake Down session for Evans as well. Will be a very interesting weekend, and the Saturday stages (currently covered in snow) will be a proper challenge.
Round 1 of the MSN Circuit Rally Championship also kicks off on Sunday at Donington. Perhaps a little surprising given that it's within a Tier 3 area, but Motorsport UK seem content. Good news!

Bit of a shakey start for Elfyn, apparently he made a small mistake on SS1 too. Hopefully he's gotten the nerves out of the way now!
Quite a lot of criticism for this event, but I quite like it for being completely different. Especially with conditions at the circuit being so slippy!
yes there's been a bit of a twitter conversation about this type of event. I have to say that it might actually be a good idea to hold the final round of the WRC at a GP circuit as it could provide a showcase type of event with easy spectator access. Ok the stages would be a bit Mickey Mouse, but the competition isn't and you could go to new cities and locations. Final rounds ( like the Monza rally) in Silverstone, Abu Dhabi, Austin, etc, changing the location each year and maybe even making it a bit of a reveal, It could work as something different. although I expect the old motor club boys won't want anything that a)different and b) not a 5 day marathon up and down the UK. It's like the MSN Circuit Rally Championship but with the full blown WRC field. In any normal year it'd be a sell out event in any country it was ran in. Lappi now leads, Sordo has been given a penalty for cutting a chicane. Top 5 are only 20 seconds apart, with Elfyn currently doing all he needs to.
Loads of snow on tomorrow's stages, but it might rain tonight. Anything could happen!
Edit: Lappi has the same penalty, Sordo back to 1st! 7 seconds covers the top 5!
