Did anyone just do what normal people do and pay to get in, jeez or is this special club for rich people only!
I assume you're a customer of the main series sponsor? If you are then you can apply to get your name in the hat for a pair of tickets for a round. If you're not a customer of the main sponsor and you don't win some of the limited tickets then yeah you have to pay.LukeBrown66 said:

If you would like free tickets just ask! Obviously the VIP stuff goes very quickly to PHer clients of IM, but we try to sort things for everyone where we can! Steve H said:
I would expect that the cars and the kit to run them are all dealt with by the individual teams, most have their own trucks etc because it’s a fairly custom setup.
That’s not how it works For F1, the teams own all the trucks/hospitality units etc but contract out a lot of the driving. They do have their own drivers as well but they don’t do the long distance stuff themselves. After I took early retirement, I got my Class 1 HGV just as a bucket list thing, and do the occasional run here and there when it’s something interesting. Last year I drove a Ferrari truck to the Hungaroring for Hungarian GP. I’ve heard there’s a similar gig in the offing for “some GT work” (as it was described) hence the question. -Cappo- said:
Julian, do you know who the series have contracted with this season for the trucking of all the cars & paraphernalia between circuits? Genuine reason for asking (as they say!).
Hi mate, I'm not involved at team level unless it is a social or promotional thing and as Steve H says the trucking is handled at team level.I can ask around for you though, no problem...

Cheers Julian, just thought it might be interesting to get involved and see a bit of the “behind the scenes” stuff. I can ask around for you though, no problem...

I had no idea you could "ask" for tickets for VIP!
I did not know what the link was here, just seemed to be a group of folks talking about a VIP club.
Not sure I have the wardrobe for VIP sadly
But apologies for the confusion
The VIP passes get you onto the grid walk, pit lane tour and the hospitality with breakfast, lunch and drinks. Its all very casual! They do get grabbed very quickly though!I did not know what the link was here, just seemed to be a group of folks talking about a VIP club.

Intelligent Money is the title sponsor and also sponsors the Finance forum here, so there has become a group/club of us through PHers having a lot of talk on the Finance forums, becoming clients of IM and also metting up at the races. Feel free to join in if you like!

I'll try to get along to one or both of the Donnington rounds this year. Life is getting more complex so I won't be doing as much marshalling as I was though!Intelligent Money is the title sponsor and also sponsors the Finance forum here, so there has become a group/club of us through PHers having a lot of talk on the Finance forums, becoming clients of IM and also metting up at the races. Such work does exist in GT Racing but it's nothing to do with the series organiser, you'll need to approach the teams directly also a job search with the keyword 'Truckie' which should get you a few things. You'll also be expected to cover a job on track as well, helping with refuelling and other general duties like cleaning wheels, fetching tyres along with the obvious setup and breakdown at the start and end of the weekend. It's also worth checking out some of the small championships like Britcar and GT Cup, the teams there are smaller and will use more contract staff so will be more likely to have such a position available.

Thanks for the update. It's not that I'm looking for work, this was just something which was mentioned to me recently. From my end, a friend of mine introduced me to a company over here who provide "drivers on demand", mostly for motorsport-related stuff. On one side, they commit to providing x number of drivers to several F1 teams throughout the season, and they also do one-offs ("we need a truck full of kit transported to Monza for off-season testing", or "we have a client needing several cars transported in an enclosed artic from A to B in Europe") and then they have a communication channel where they simply ask if anyone is available, and allocate the job from there. Jobs are always over-subscribed with drivers tho. All flights and accommodations etc covered and they pay the going rate. It's also worth checking out some of the small championships like Britcar and GT Cup, the teams there are smaller and will use more contract staff so will be more likely to have such a position available.
Other than delivering against a small side-bet I had with a mate, this is the exact reason I took my Class 1 licence; I've zero interest in delivering roller cages of cornflakes to Tesco but I quite enjoy driving artics, so if there is an interesting run with something to have a look at, I'm in.
I've been around these parts long enough to know not to post pictures of myself but this was "my" truck for the Hungary run. LHD, although the RH door was open! On the run we drove for Ferrari, MacLaren and Haas. My truck's trailer was 1/6 of the Ferrari hospitality unit, which we got shown round.
Apologies for mild hijack! I'll find out in due course which championship/teams are on the cards for these jobs and I'll report back
Cappo, yep that makes a lot of sense and the teams do often need extra staff for event weekends in all sorts of roles, I’m just not sure how much of an organised system there is for all of it and how much is phoning that guy that did it last time .
Worth a bit of looking into though as someone has to do it and it’s a great environment to spend a few days in.
