Melbourne race day
Discussion
I've never been to Melbourne but she may take a good book if its anything like Silverstone.
The 16:10 start means there's plenty of support races.

We are going to Australia next week and have tickets for the race day, in the Senna stand.
As im taking the wife, is there anything else on during the day other than racing. I would like to make a day of it, but if its just racing, she will get bored.

Netflix on the smartphone and a steady supply of wine. That's how my missus copes with days out she couldn't give a toss about As im taking the wife, is there anything else on during the day other than racing. I would like to make a day of it, but if its just racing, she will get bored.

I've been to the Melbourne race for the last 4 years and last year took my other half.
It's a great event, great location and lots of things to see and do beyond the racing. Weather makes it great as well. Of all the F1 races I've been too, this is by far the best to take a non-F1 other half to.

There is plenty of off track action in Melbourne, but it is fairly car-centric.
Static and moving car displays, walk through the Porsche Cup pits, wait to see the drivers arrive and enter the paddock etc.
There are some music stages as well and plenty of bars. Or walk around the lake with a beer and take in the views/atmosphere, and there are air displays with the Roulettes and fighter jet which is impressive. The V8s sound good as well.
Or spend the morning in the City or St Kilda and tram down in the afternoon for the race.
It’s a great day. Take plenty of sunscreen and a hat. Or it may rain and you need an emergency poncho. Who knows. Enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. We are in Melbourne for a couple of weeks. We are going over for the wife's nieces wedding, around the same time as the GP. Her fiance works for ticket master, and he got us tickets. Bonus.
You will love the city itself. In the heart it's super modern, the outer areas are laid back Victorian suberbs with trendy burger bars etc. It's a very nice place to spend time and take life easy! Try and keep the wife away from the expensive shopping district - that's general advice the world over Enjoy the trip.

It's a great event - quite like Austin in feel and unlike the more hardcore European races.

After the race, take her for dinner here. Sit outside on the terrace and enjoy.

We are going to St. Kilda to meet some of the family. The menu looks good, we may give it a go. Thanks for the link.https://donovans.com.au/
