He never seemed to take racing seriously when interviewed, more from his demeanour than anything, how wrong I was.
The sheer courage, ability and determination he has shown since that first terrible accident have shown the true measure of the man, he really is a hero and role model anyone would be proud to emulate.

Just to update this, it was annoucned Christmas Eve he has been released from hospital and has returned home.
Lets hope this is the last potentially life ending event this guy has to go through.

Few have had to suffer the adversity that Zanardi has been through in his life, and I don't think there are more than a handful who would have fought so hard, and achieved so much in the face of all of those challenges.

His haul of silverware and results don't come close to representing his motorsport potential, and yet is remarkable in his own right.

He was the highlight of the Paralympic games, and loved watching his amazing achievements.
