A very clever car. IIRC there was also an Ariel Atom with 3 wheels used by someone as a test rig for something. I can't find any information of it all but did read about it.
I really didn’t think that Nissan was clever. I thought it was a gimmick.

Same here I thought they were great. Watching its 2012 Le Mans debut live I was gutted when it got punted off the track. The Delta Wings always seemed to attract trouble on track. Due to their size and shape drivers complained it was difficult to judge distance and gaps once along side

Big difference is, one raced. One didn't.

So it makes it, the one that didn't, neither a race car or a road car biggrin

Pedantic yeah.

Anything by Boba and the other turbo nutters from Paderborn/Germany.
His Golf Mk2 4WD has done 8.2 / 280 Km/h at Santa Pod, had a plate for testing on Autobahn.
Now is working on 16Vampir´s Drag Golf , with engine straight mount, not bad for a 2000cc 4pot :

Note the run times, 6 runs within an hour, cranking the boost up on every attempt.
Brewed in a shed, without sponsors, but lots of expertise and enthusiasm :

Man, I hope that we meet in the pits and on the quartermile again.
Videos from Boba Motoring are available but I don´t want to anger the mods with too many YT links.

Ol’ 300bhp, he has been been on here a while, you will get used to his off tangent ramblings after a bit.

I'm going to throw this one into the mix in terms of 'maddest ideas'. It certainly was at the time.

On seeing, it Enzo's words were 'The horses don't push the cart'. Soon changed his tune.

It wasn't particularly original, mind you, and quiet a few earlier examples were considerably madder:

Supercharged V16:

Having seen the OP's Shadow with the bodywork off, I think it would be difficult to beat, though. Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'heel and toe'. I'm not particularly safety-conscious, to the degree that I'm quite happy to drive open cars with no rollover protection, but there ain't no way you'd get me behind the wheel of that thing.

Just be thankful it wasn't a Defender.

No, not that one, a real Defender.

Then there was the 78 Litre multi turbocharged V18 Mini that we witnessed at the Goodwood FOS a few years back. Unfortunately more show than go.

Freedom to travel. Mingling with crowds. Having a drink with friends. A country pub meal in the evening with the wife. Those were the days...

With regard to hilarious road registered cars, I always think of Nick Mann and his V8/turbo/nitrous moggie, faster acceleration than an F40 at the time and unlimited record holder at Shelsley for years; think it mustered about 600bhp in the end
Still got the street machine magazine with that car in, always been a favourite of mine.
