Not unless it cam be demonstated that its a purpose built racing car, and has achieved significant success at a national or international level, or a historically correct road car of at least 30 years of age.

If it can, then 0% duty, 5% VAT.

Google 97.05 commodity code for the various rulings. Its how most standard classic cars arrive from overseas.

I contacted them a few days ago about a proto race car from eu and they said VAT I think would be 20% and £30 duty. he said just turn up at Calais and deal with it there. Really not sure that all but Thats what the man said.

Wouldn't it be easier to get an agent to do it for you? If you are not a trader, then you will need one.

Are you in France? You will need a negative corona test before you can come into the UK. Are you planning to travel to France? You probably cannot at present, unless an exception applies.

Do you have an EORI number? If not, I cannot imagine one being issued at Calais. Without one, the goods are likely to be held up for customs clearance and there may be storage fees.

Are you VAT registered? If you are, then you can reclaim the VAT on the car. If not, then you will still have to pay it, but cannot reclaim.

Is the car a permanent, or temporary import?
