Anyone else booked onto this this year?

I'm booked to go to my first Monaco GP this year - fingers crossed!

We booked it as a 40th Present for me at the end of last year when things were looking a bit better, then obviously the other variants hit and after Christmas I was pretty much resigned to the fact that it wouldn't happen.

Now i think there is a glimmer of hope. They have started building the track recently and there was an article on planet F1 recently that they were planning on running on 'half attendance' although i'm not quite sure how that would work with those who already have tickets?

PM said in his speech recently that international travel will resume 'no earlier than' 17th May. We fly on the 20th!!

So, anyone else hopefully going??

My fingers are crossed for you. I've booked Silverstone for myself and my daughter (our first live race) - hopeful it will go ahead but not sure how they will determine who goes if it ends up being reduced attendance. My logic was if I book earlier hopefully it's first come first served basis.

Would love to do Monaco one day for the theatre but for my first experience I want to see the cars at full chat.

We're meant to be going - flying on 21st.

So many variables to consider like if we haven't had the vaccine by then will we be allowed to fly - but there is a glimmer of hope.

Fingers crossed!

I'm happy to drive although wife thinks we might struggle to get childcare for the extra couple of days that we would need to get there and back.

I'm also nervous about having this as my only option in case ferries get cancelled also and i lose all of my ticket money.

Sadly it looks like France has today suspended their AstraZenica vaccine rollout, for what appear to be political rather than medical reasons.

At this point, there has to be serious concern for all the F1 events currently scheduled between Bahrain and Baku.

U.K. Foreign Office advice is currently to avoid all unnessesary international travel, personally I’d be looking to reschedule or cancel anything planned for the next couple of months. Travel to France is limited to French nationals or EU residents returning home.

Predicted this about 8 weeks ago. The French effectively shut off a huge chunk of Europe logistically. Even in none covid times they manage as much several times a year...

Right now the French rhetoric regards Britain's handling of the new varients isn't very kind... They think we're a bunch of sloppy ill disciplined aholes - governed by a blithering idiot. Which isnt 100% accurate but I can see how that's the impression we might give..

Given that the international travel ban appears to be about to be extended to July excluding essential travel, it is highly likely that anyone from the UK will not be able to attend.

The issue with this is the organisers have confirmed to me by email that if the event is to go ahead, whether or not we are allowed to travel to Monaco they are not willing to refund any tickets which have been purchased, nor are they willing to transfer them to 2022.

So chances are you will be in the same position as us, trying to flog them on eBay for a no doubt substantial loss (When they actually get around to printing and sending them out)

That's pretty poor. I would have thought they'd at least offer a refund less processing costs or whatever - if no one from the UK can make it but locals (French) can, then they would clearly re-sell them..

Assuming we are talking about official tickets purchased directly from the promoter then, assuming the event goes ahead and people can’t travel, it might be worth trying to kick up a stink in the motorsport media and to F1 themselves. F1 won’t want to see fans being treated like st because of events they can’t control.

If you bought a package from a travel agent, they might be covered by ATOL, and if you paid by credit card, there’s always the option of getting the bank involved.

That said, I still think it’s unlikely the event goes ahead at all, let alone with fans present.

Agreed, very disappointing customer relations I wouldn't expect anything like this from the likes of Silverstone.

Funnily enough one of the days I have booked are 'Gold' tickets which they consider VIP, they have offered me a refund / carry over to 2022 for those, but not sure what use transferring one day is!

Apparently if you have Gold, Silver or standing tickets then you can claim a refund but if you have any 'Flat rate' tickets your screwed.

I'm currently looking at charge back options with my credit card company.

I'm currently waiting until Thursday to see whether the new ruling regarding international travel ban being extended to July is passed in the commons. At which point its full steam ahead trying to obtain a refund by any means.

Believe me... watching the cars go around the swimming pool complex is all you need to marvel at what they can do. In fact, I would say that it's a better demonstration of what an F1 car is than seeing them touch 220mph at the end of a straight. If that's your thing, I'd suggest Santa Pod might be a better and cheaper option.

Monaco forces you to recalibrate your understanding of physics and human capacity. At most other circuits, you're left thinking that you could do it. The racing's rarely good but that - and the sheer spectacle - make being there worth it in bucket loads.

Can't believe F1 still haven't done the right thing and cancelled the race or at least agreed to host it with no fans and refunded tickets.

We are currently still in limbo and trying to get our money back from the travel insurance.

+1

As a spectacle it's right up there.
The V10's were epic.

Historic this year looks unlikely.

There is nowhere else where you can put your arm out and almost touch the F1 cars at full chat. Epic place. Especially love Rascasse bar; watch cars clipping the inside barrier during racing and then chill on the track apres. The old engines were full on sensory assault, and the high rise buildings create a fog bank of noise. Every petrolhead's dream weekend.

If you bought tickets from an authorised seller, write to ACM to put your issue. The entire Pricipality is run by Prince Albert with a very organised and respectful outlook.

BTW Top Marques just cancelled the 2021 show at Place Grimaldi and offered 2022 tickets to all holders.
