I think driving blind is perfectly apt, we actually watched a bit of it as it came on following something and oh.... my..... god.... Where the fk does one begin.... I'm hoping its just a PR stunt offering to keep the children happy and perhaps not trying to interfere in the sports we love?

It's a P-P-P - PC police pacifier
It does show what Electric SUVs are really good at - short journeys dropping the kids off while overcoming the rough terrain of kerbs and obstacles created by other mum's SUVs

Agreed, It is clear they are still perfecting the 'atmosphere' of the event but the racing was much better, some contact too. I think the circuit needed a few more tight corners with wide entry choices to help with more of an overtaking spectacle though. Now we need a 5 lap final race, not 2 laps (assuming they have enough battery power).

Some commented on the female drivers being slower earlier. They should watch a reply of yesterday's race.

Another poster mentioned helicopters, I believe they are filming with drones. They are also being very economical with logistics using one ship to move everything around https://www.extreme-e.com/en/news/130_Extreme-E-s-... But I agree that the drivers and many others will be flying around the world still. And while I agree that the big names in this championship are polluting a lot, at least they are trying to raise visibility of issues.

I'm no eco-loon btw smile

It needs circuits where they can have more cars at a time.

The green attitude needs to be one of being responsible, and doing what is necessary to keep racing. Not one of preaching.

This round was better than the first - but we still had what, only 5 or 6 real racing position changes across every round of qualification and racing (and most of them from the same driver if I remember correctly).

I still think the track layouts are causing most of the issues though. The drivers/teams made it quite clear from the first qulaification run that there was a clear fastest line and people who were in last position so had nothing to lose and rolled the dive on an alternative line...lost ground every single time by doing so. But then going "Look, you can take any line (from this single car width gate) across this big area (to that single car width gate over there)!" basically means "Take the straightest/smoothest/flattest line you can from this single car width gate to that single car width gate.". The only place that WASN'T the case was T2 where dropping close to the water gave you firmer sand and a more open entry to the corner, at the expense of a longer distance. Everywhere else it was basically the same surface, so 'shortest' route wins.

Maybe something like the Rallycross joker lap would work, so there's one set of gates you have to include on one of your laps/a second set on the other - but it's up to the driver to decide which? Find yourself at the back and the lead cars both go for option A and you can elect option B and have some time on a clear, empty track while the other 2 cars are defending/trying to see through the dirt of the car ahead.

They're not building E cars from scratch though. It's a spec series with all using the same Odyssey vehicle.

I wish they'd get rid of all the climate/green/woke proselytising and previous race highlights, and just give us the 30 mins of qualifying.

The only way they can justify shipping hundreds tons of kit to Greenland For a car race is to go on about the environment - carbon neutral, aye of course it is.

Is it fair to consider the gross amount of entertainment a series provides? I find myself pondering if you could divide the total "carbon cost" of these electric eco series by the total viewership what that figure would look like.

Good result for Munnings and Hansen. Yes, they benefitted from the misfortune of others, but the usual "To finish first..." etc definitely applies to this type of racing and they got their car to the end without damage or punctures.
Good racing today, hopefully with the field increasing in size next year it will only get better.

It's been announced today that the final round of this year's championship will take place in Dorset. The Jurassic X-Prix will be on 18-19 December at Bovington and replaces the CV19 cancelled Argentina round.
