Pity I can't be there in person this year - was looking forward to it after missing last year (and all my TF trips).

Took a few minutes looking for the English version (as there's always an English version of the N24 from the RLM guys)...but it's just German...won't know what they're getting excited about now wink

Come on Opel Manta!!!

First casualty seems to be an e30 with a puncture by the looks of it!

No English coverage of this one I'm afraid, but the racing is always good and the variety of cars is amazing. The race finishes at 13:05 German time and we're expecting massive thunderstorms sometime around 12:30 paperbagbiggrin

Perfect!

Was there at the 2016 24hr when they had the hail a few years back, and couldn't get any traction on their slicks...could hardly see the track from where I was position when the wind/hail/storm came down and ran back to the car to recover!

I'm also guessing they don't enforce 'track limits' as some of them are a car's width over the white line wink

Brill. Love the Abarth style cooling fix for the NSU.... AKA just prop the bootlid (bonnet) open a bit!

If you tried to do that sort of thing in the proper N24, they'd black flag your for loose bodywork.

I love the N24 proper, but I get a much warmer feeling when I see the classic stuff being thrashed...and always feel bad when an old BMW/Opel/Fiat/Mercedes gets damaged/crashes in the classic...not so much when I see a Glickenhaus in the main race.

Track limits? laugh

No.

And 2016 was a mental year, we were standing watching in Wehrseifen when the hail came down, it was fekkin biblical. We live 300 yards from the track and running home was like being shot at, a lot. biggrin

I've experienced Biblical rainfall in that area .
Turned the field I was parked in , into a boggy mush and a few cars got stuck trying to leave .

So strange, every year during the 24H weekend we get massive storms, extreme heat, and everything the weatherman can throw at us. We walked our two dogs yesterday from Hatzenbach down to Wehrseifen and 15 minutes before the first qualifying was going to start it pissed it down, first proper rain we've seen for a few weeks!

The other great thing about this race is seeing the old guys back behind the wheel, that 635csi that's in 3rd or whatever is being driven by Olaf Manthey, and he's still having a good go thumbup

This is what my Dad drove in this race right up until he stopped at the age of 70, 4 years ago.

Manthey's 635csi has been pulled from the race, 2 dB too loud.

I'm going outside to drown a green party politician.

...and now a Porsche 928 on it's roof - luckily quite a sedate impact and driver looks fine!

That's a lot of damage to the 928 frown

That looked like such a mess of an operation, the guy nearly got his hand chopped off by the door, the car nearly landed on top of his leg, the 928's remaining good door nearly got torn off.

I don't blame the Porsche driver for turning his back to it all in the end. biggrin

Are there any spectators there ?

If not , how do they stop anybody getting in seeing as there are dozens of little entrances round the 13 miles ?

10,000 spectators allowed on the main stands at the GP track, none around the Nordschleife though. There are Marshals absolutely everywhere in the woods and at 'nearly' all of the entrances in the woods.

I have two dogs and they have to be walked though wink

Yes, spectators are allowed...although there are restrictions around where you can watch (ticket only I believe), and no huge encampments/structures being set up with shared jacuzzis and sex swings.
