Ha! After dropping my daughter off at school on Friday I pulled up next to Champion at the A69 roundabout and gave them the thumbs up, what a terrific sounding 911 it was.

And yet more drama

both Barret and Pryce out now! Barret rolled, Pryce knocked a wheel off.
Ryan Champion and Chris Thorley leading now..... in a 911 !! not an Escort!
A Yorkshire win with a bit of luck!
Also.....there's a distinct possibility of Ryan Champion and Chris Thorley winning the rally without setting any fastest stage times.

The same happened on Mull this year - Daniel Harper & Chris Campbell won without setting any fastest stage times.

Just goes to show (something......hares / tortoises.....)
Yeah, proper 'old school' rally tactics. Everything crossed, a 911 winning would be awesome.

Pryce knocked both wheels off, staggering bad luck for top guys, is Thommo still in there as he will be pushing like Billy O to get a win, but Champoion has been sound and steady all rally

Front RH Stub axle failure under braking apparently.

The live feed was good just now, with Ryan Champion pinching the microphone to do some interviews, he was professional sounding too!

Praise to Becks & Matt Cotton for going beyond the call of duty in the brilliant, spontaneous coverage under arduous and trying conditions.
Iirc? Ryan has experience in the "Meedya".

Yeah, I think he does, can’t remember where though.
He certainly had the confidence.

Guy next to us in service had the same thing on his Mk2. Massive great stub axle, broke clean between the inner and outer bearings!

Bad batch of pattern parts do you reckon ?

Very possible, I would guess the top lads are both putting more strain on parts and likely getting them from similar suppliers. Word of mouth matters at that level and best suppliers are usually overwhelmed before events like this

We ended up clearing 9 trees in all, a good day setting up.

The two runs were just very cold, almost icy surface. Well done to Ryan and Craig, also a call out for Ben Jemison in the Chevette.

Velocemitch I saw Mark and had a natter, he was quite tired even then.

One of the winners

Did it live up to the hype? Yes, of course. Long may it continue.......

An utterly bonkers event and one to tell the stories of for years to come. Sleeping in the car for that long on Friday night was slightly surreal, but all good in the end.
I don’t know how the team running the event do so with so little manpower, but they do and hats off to them.

Sorry, not sure I understand this bit?

We had nearly 100 Marshals, Radio, Rescue and recovery people on just one stage. It was nearly two days to set it up. The manpower is massive on the ground and then you've got all the safety cars and Rally HQ folks too. My guess is that there was somewhere between 1500-2500 people working on something during the 5 days.

I have heard that the Nicky Grist had 700 signed on to run a one day event.

I think he is talking about the management team (the Heppenstalls etc)

Ah, OK

I think there's a few more than Colin and Nicola, Obviously a layered organisation, but you could say the same about a WRC event. The folks in Rally HQ and Dep/Asst CoCs out on the ground have had experience at that level.

I am indeed talking about the Heppenstalls and if you like the senior team. I know the numbers involved in Rally GB both on event and pre event and they are vastly different to the RAC.

So back to my compliment and hats off to them

RAC Facebook page

John Lowe

Might be a genuine mistake but in the confusion of our accident on Roger Albert Clark Rally SS23 (Dovey 1) a spectator handled our rally tracker to click ok. This hasn't been handed back into organisers or Craig Parry which I was totally unaware of until last night. This tracker is worthless to who ever has it and I would be grateful (and happy to pay the postage) if it was sent back. Its bad enough having to repair the car but having to cover the costs of the nearly £1000 worth of gear taken from the car whilst being seen to in the ambulance is pretty gutting. Please just hand it in and no questions asked: L Philliskirk & Son Ltd, Meadowcroft Farm, York Road, Green Hammerton, York, YO268EZ
