17 secs is pretty impressive, especially when he said it was jumping out of gear.....

And in the BRC, Pryce leads Cronin by 5secs; but the real action will take place today.....

Dramatic start to the day; Pryce fastest, followed by Bell. Cronin 23 secs slower, with an overshoot and spin - and drops to 3rd place.

Just back from Rally Yorkshire was on an open 90 left, some of the commitment taking the corner was awesome. We must have had 20+ spectators at our junction. No pens, safety delegate happy where they were stood.

The only problem in this day and age was not knowing who was where, but I'll accept no phone coverage when you had the view we did.

And Matt Edwards took the Historic event by quite a margin - and the title will be decided on the Carlisle Stages in a months time. Would be good to see a non Escort driver claim the title.

Whilst it might not go down as a classic BRC season Pryce, Cronin, Bell & Williams have provided some great action throughout the year. Onto the final round, the Cambrian in a month.

Just waiting for the highlights to be uploaded now.

Looks like several of this year's entrants for the Mull Rally, have used today's Cheviot Stages as a bit of a shakedown.

You get a better class of speccy up there laugh
Steve Magson after he retired on SS 2, The Bannister entourage and another 4 ex / Current competitors in attendance that I know of.
Almost ½ mile straight in to the corner. It's a much better view after FC felled the trees, I've seen it artificially tightened, really spoils it. Must've put chicanes elsewhere ?

For those who are interested, Banners lad John is making a return on the Malton Forest, entry is looking ever more popular since I last looked !

yikes ≈ 115 - A lot of familiar names from the weekend & More !

We certainly did, John stopped and had a word with us. He had taken the car out last week when his dad was doing shakedown and managed one run before popping a drive shaft. Sent off for a replacement but when it arrived it didn't fit. A long day for one run.

Seems they don't break ! Trying to understand why it was wanting to leave the road constantly the shaft was the last thing they checked.
Disappointing, he must've been looking forward to some seat time.

Ah Steve Magson - I was watching on Facebook, and saw he was back in the Astra; I'm guessing it's the RWD one. He had been in an Ascona I think for quite a while.

It is and testing his patience as much as the first time ! Rear hub failed, they attempted a repair but a helicoil was spinning.
The Ascona went a few years ago, been using a Merc 190 Cosworth among others since.

I haven't been spectating in the Yorkshire forests for about 4 years, so can't recall seeing him in the Mercedes-Cosworth 190E.

That was a very good stage - have you worked with those guys before?

I was with the safety delegate and the speccies were well positioned so all happy

Generally a very good event from a spectator perspective. We didn’t have any major issues all event.

Yes, let's be honest after 40+ years of doing rallying there aren't that many people I haven't worked with and I suspect it is the same for you.

Looking forward to WRC NZ this week - I thought hard about going to watch in person, but its at the opposite end of the country and just too much on the go with work and life in general to wrangle the time away.

So I'll just enjoy the novelty of having a rally live on WRC+ during the day instead of at night! hehe

I will have to catch up with it when I can get phone coverage, as I am over on the Isle of Man for the Chris Kelly Memorial Rally.
