This is very cool, F1 Academy is now picking up junior karting prospects.

https://x.com/f1academy/status/1910001437334995046

At the end of the day it’s a numbers game, and the more girls who go into cadet and junior karting the more likely it is that we see a lady driver in future F1.

Yep agreed, it’s all about opening up opportunities for young drivers, in this case these young girls to get involved in the sport, show their speed and capability and get decent support, mentoring to build that potential. I’m all for it.

Also regards the Japanese Grand Prix weekend Miki Koyama won both rounds of the Ferrari Challenge and Anna Inotsume was also on the podium (3rd and 2nd) in those races.

Well done to Megan O'Kane & Nikki Addison for their class win in the BRC - Carlisle Stages. One to add to the their class win in the first round - East Riding Stages.

...And for those who think they were driving round at the back, no, they were battling with David Higgins for the BRC4 class.

Yes, saw that on the Rolex feed, another historic ‘first’ in some appalling conditions.

Also thought the F1 Academy Race 1 at Miami was pretty entertaining. Shame race 2 was cancelled (heavy rain)

Spotted this very informative piece on Motorsport.com

She also won her class in the first round, she was also extremely forward in praising her team mates who had to undo a few things she did wrong, she is a very good driver for this type of racing.

AS far as I recall in that race she did lose places but made no mistakes and simply allowed quicker drivers to pass without giving them an easy ride, that is all you ask of someone with so little big prototype experience. An LMP2 in ELMS spec is a bloody quick car nearly as quick as a Hypercar.

She, to me is a class act, and will only get better, I personally think endurance racing is the perfect environment for female drivers, in that they can learn in a very tricky and competitive series, and the rewards are not far off the legeacy you would earn for winning high end single seater titles or races like the 500, LE Mans is in my eyes the hardest thing to win in motorsport.

I also think she is very pragmatic, she and no doubt her team can see where WEC and prototype racing is heading, she also knows that right now she is either not really strong enough or maybe quick enough to compete in F1 or Indy so that all goes in the experience bin.

When you she what she is doing in comparison with the joke that is Deegan, I think you can see the difference.

Because she’s openly Trans? Rubbish. Charlie is a massive advocate for women of all backgrounds in motorsport, not just those from the LGBTQ+ community.

I hope she realises her dream of getting to Lemans.

I think she's making some really good career decisions. In addition to everything you've said above, she was excellent as part of Sky's F1 team which is going to boost her profile and demonstrate how good she is in front of people, cameras etc.

Last year’s F1 Academy winner Doriane Pin has signed as a development and test driver for Peugeot s Hypercar programme, targeting a drive for next year.

https://x.com/peugeotsport/status/2038949440665587...

This is in addition to her role with Mercedes F1, and is where the Academy drivers embedding in F1 teams works, she’s spent two years all over Merc F1 and knows loads more about prototype racing than your average Hypercar rookie.

Good luck Dori!

I know there have been several previous threads, but thought it was time to freshen things up under a new heading.

Women represent 50% of the population (75% in my household - hence my interest), but only a tiny percent are represented in motorsport, with a few notable figures in the history books.

With new initiatives, new faces and, it seems, a will to see more women succeed in all levels and areas of motorsport (not just drivers), perhaps we will can enjoy some constructive discussion about future talent.

Arguably one of the achievements of recent years for women in motorsport.

Sophia Rumeau from France won a round of the French gravel series this weekend, rallying in France is huge and this is about as good as it gets nationally for a rally driver in France, they have two series really tar and gravel, she only really competes on the loose, great achievement on a tough, tough series.
