Wonder what's troubling Jake Hill? Maybe the switching back and forth from GT to BTCC cars is affecting him?
I don’t recall Thruxton traditionally being a BMW track in the past but the BMWs in general seem a bit hit or miss this year for pace.

Aidan spoke about they can just about get some
pace out of it for a lap but over the course of the race they don’t have the pace as the cars at the front. That’s backed up by the timesheets, in Race 1 Hill’s best running pace was 1:17.3xx then fell away, all the cars in front were running in the 16s for a number of laps.

Last year I think the BMWs and Hyundais were generally fairly even, the Focuses maybe a step behind, that meant Hill was on a more stable
footing to fight. This year, certainly on off weekends like Donington and Thruxton, I think he knows if he loses the place he’s more than likely not getting it back which is causing him problems like we saw the weekend.

He’s always hopped in and out of different machinery so really don’t see that being the issue.

Calm down, no need for the usual aggressive posting style that is one of the reasons posters dont bother posting on here.
No aggression here, that all in your head. I simply asked: "In what way could it be affecting him?"
No its not, you have a p1ssy attitude and challenge anything and everything that is posted by other posters in a real demeaning know it all tone. I'm not the first to point this out and the fact you argue with so many posters is proof (seriously read over this thread, how many posters have you had a go at at this stage). As I said you are a big reason that the BTCC has one single thread for the year versus recent times of a thread per race.

Proof, look at the post above mine, a nice polite interaction compared to your typical reply. It is known as social manners. Aware I am falling into your category of posting style but feels it needs to be called out.

Anyway, not normally a fan of Thruxton but for me it delivered the goods last weekend. As others have mentioned, it seemed the camera angles had been improved and it helped us to see the commitment.

Excellent weekends racing, good to watch with the cars squirreling around at such high speeds which promote getting a tow and/or using boost for a pass. Great to see the stupid tyre stacks gone from the chicane too!

I think Jake just had a bit of an off weekend - funny to hear TIngram commenting about him in the post race interview. Doing GT certainly didn't affect Ash that's for sure!

Makes sense - thanks!

I've become a bit of a Hill fan lately so hoping he can get over the current struggles...

Just caught up on the weekend. Double class win for our Wookie!!

Shame there was no coverage of the first Porsche race - or not that I saw anyway, flicking through. Does anyone know if they are streamed anywhere? I know I can search around, but it'll save time if anyone already has that info.

Anyway, not normally a fan of Thruxton but for me it delivered the goods last weekend. As others have mentioned, it seemed the camera angles had been improved and it helped us to see the commitment.

The non-televised Porsche race will probably be on Motorsport UK in the early hours on ITV at some stage in around a month - you'll have to keep an eye out for it

Search for “Motorsport UK” in the ITVX app. Most of the BTCC support races are there a week or two after the event.

The BMW's have been more affected by the balance changes caused by the removal of hybrid. It's not just Jake who is struggling at some circuits.

That's certainly true. It's not affected the front-wheel-drive cars nearly as much.

Which is everyone else!

I hope that Jake, DC etc can find some consistency soon... or else it's going to be a two horse race between Ash & 'Tingram'.
There's a good pool of talent this season.

They're also on the ITV4 Youtube channel now, along with the main and support races: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7ztBrs7h_U

Fantastic - thank you!

I always forget that the mainstream media also use YT now.

Not sure I agree, Ash and Tom as drivers seem to be streets ahead of the rest of the field, others in the same cars are clearly not able to replicate their success so that suggests it's got a lot to do with the driver's ability. Jake winning last year was IMHO a flash in the pan and he fails to maintain the consistency of Ash and Tom.

That does seem to be the key. Regardless of success boost, both drivers are almost always very close to the front in qualifying and the race. Cammish and Rowbottom are able to get ahead of Sutton sometimes, but over the course of a season he always looks like the driver who gets the most out of the car.

Ronan Pearson not racing at Oulton Park.... Sounds like sponsor related.
Replacement, due to be announced today. ( Thursday).

Bit of a shame...hope it's not long term.

Proves that a junior series needs to be back on the support package... It hasn't been the same since the Ginettas were dropped.

Ronan Pearson:
"It is with great disappointment that I have chosen to step down from my 2025 BTCC seat. This decision has been made for personal reasons and with the full support of my partners.

"After the disappointment of 2024, my partners and I have worked incredibly hard to put a program together for 2025. It has been far from easy and putting everything you have 24/7 into being on the grid can take its toll."

A proper professional and an inspiration to all, Steve Rider.

Have they announced a replacement yet or is that to come on Sunday?
