The major issue this year (and I admit I'm suffering from it a bit) is that the title is already a one-horse race. There's no jeopardy whatsoever around Ash winning the thing. Best car. Best driver. End of.
Ricky Collard is doing his best to add a bit of entertainment, but it's all very "safe" compared to a few years ago. I'm guessing that comes primarily down to a general lack of funds meaning that drivers are under orders not to take risks, together with the wider rules clampdown after it all got a bit too banger racing in character.

Wtf some 57 year old Japanese dude is having a drive for the last two rounds?! It's annoying that you get someone decently talented and great to watch, P5 in the driver's championship not being able to get enough funding, when other complete f
king donkeys like Halstead get in plum seats, literally in the best car on the grid and piss around in last place.
It's like F1 back in the 80's and 90's but the difference is you wouldn't have a Lavaggi or a Deletraz rocking up in a Williams or Ferrari.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Time and time again he is thrown in a car last minute and puts the regulars in the same machinery to shame. Chilton is another one I would like to see f**ked off out of BTCC and more specifically Ingrams team. The bloke does nothing to help Ingram, often actively hindering Ingram whilst having no chance at winning the championship because he doesn’t have the talent. Get out of the way of your faster team mate and then help block those behind.
Sutton has had that in the last few years, DanCam, Rowbo (apart from when he fell out with NAPA towards the end of last season) etc at least helping out once they couldn’t win the championship.
I wonder if Speedworks should consider a different car next season. The Corolla seems a decent chassis but with everyone else running sleeker saloon shapes the aero is an issue at faster tracks. The Prius looks a very sleek shape but maybe ripping out the hybrid would be counter intuitive... does that even matter in BTCC though?

To be fair one of the sttest things about motorsport is that in order to attract sponsors at all you need to ‘be seen’ at a competitive level.. in order to race at a competitive level you need oodles of cash in the first place. So I’m not sure much of any sponsorship can be considered to be ‘organically’ attained- normally daddy is required first to get into the shop windowCanoeSniffer said:
