Jag have got access to a V8 as have MG, Audi, VW and even Ford can lay their hands on kit so I suspect it'll be a case of bringing their own.

This sounds as though it will be identical (almost) to the V8 Star series in Germany. Where Jaguar S-Types, Audi A6, Omega's, Lexus and others.

So the engines/chassis etc already exist and work. I think it will be very popular.

This series was touted by Andy Rouse 2 years ago, but what with the reworking of the British Taxi Car Championship, was pushed to one side.

I hope the series works, but currently there are far too many race meetings on a weekend

A similar series called V8 star has been in Germany now for two years. I went to watch it a few weeks ago at the Sachsenring and to be brutally honest it was the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen. The racing was boring, the cars although well made where very unimaginative and they sounded even worse ( flat noted V8 bore). The series is surrounded by big hype, but they have got it so wrong. The series is going to be canned at the end of the season, which is as far as I am concerned not a great shame. Unless Andy Rouse's series is going to be fast (note* very fast), loud (we want F1 noise, dont we?) and intense then he should think again, as we need a series for the people and not for the Drivers, Manufacturers, Sponsorers etc etc...

Sounds like the V8 Supercar series that is run in OZ. But that series is only Ford Vs Holden (GM).

Yeah i heard about this series. They say it's going to be cost-effective - but just how cost-effective that is, i'm not sure.

I sometimes get to see the V8 Star series on a French motor channel I get here in Hungary. I thought the sounds were good but the racing is not very close, it is usually the Jags out front being chased by the others. Maybe a levelling of the playing field in some way, maybe power maximums and weight minimums with a narrow band of power to weight ratios would improve it (not that I know what rules the V8 Star cars follow).

I can assure you that the TV coverage makes the series look five times as better as the real event. I watched the TV coverage for the race that I attended, couldnt believe it was the same event.
