British GT F40

I'm confused.

Looking at the MST website it says that this fine Dancing Donkey is a V12

I did notice this in my Combe program but I assumed it was a typo!

I thought that the F40 was a twin Turbo V8!?!

Anyone know more??

Also, is it road-legal? Didn't look too special (well, any more special than any F40!!!) at combe.

No the F40 does have a V12 engine. It is the one used in the Ferrari 550 in the FIA GT championship. It should be bloody quick!!

Yes it is a one off but good to see the F40 still running quite well.

what sort of F40 is this then?

All the homologated ones have V8's (with turbos), so I assumine that this is a one off?

Yeah it is road legal. Went pretty well at Oulton today. Finished 5th I think. The V12 sounds great in it.

Basically they either cant get the V8 twin turbo enigine or something and decided to fit the 550 maranellos V12, great GT race today, lots of action, was very happy when the TVR won, clapping very loudly!

Which TVR won? Which were the top three finishers?

Those results are just the GT/GTO order - The #76 Tech 9 Porsche was fourth overall.

Was the F40 10th overall in the end? It had a bit of an excursion into the kitty litter on the last lap, not much body damage but it burst a water hose as it went in, then was driven back to the paddock- not a good idea. Chatting to the guy who engineers it, the motor is still in standard spec, maybe with mods to come later in the season.

A top, sunny day Didn't meet with any PH'ers but did see plenty of TVR's and a very yellow Ultima parked under a tree.

Well done to Eclipse Anyone know what happened to the Balfe Mosler??

the balfe mosler had 'gear selection problems' the times from the car stuck at a pace (sugesting a stuck gear) and then suddenly coasted to a halt, it seems like the same problem short/hgerrige had at silverstone but in the end retirement for the mosler. But im not 100% sure its the same problem they had.

Thanks Viperman, we thought it may have been a fuel issue ie they'd short fueled it due to the reduction of laps or something. I could imagine Shorty having a concerned moment as he rounded Old Hall to see the Red Mosler parked up!

i thought it was too, i thought he had a big lead and thought 'right lets back off a few seconds a lap, save fuel but keep the eclipse tiv behind' but no, acording to f3-gt.co.uk aswell it says he had gear selection issues.

oh! No im sorry, actually now on f3-gt.co.uk it says it was all down to a broken throttle cable.
