Hi plug,i do own the car yes,and have for the last 18yrs,but im always trying to gather more and more of its history, its in perfect condition, ive always had it with me kept in the dry,the shell has been repainted completly inc the underneath in white with the same graphics as in the pic,it now needs fitting up,have always been collecting new o/e parts, couldnt bring myself to fit it up with the old parts when you spot new, what do you know of its history if any, thanks for your interest plug.;)
I'll ask Mike Wilds to contact you, if you are interested!!
Hi joe,Thanks for that I have tried to contact him a few times by email to his tuition school,he did reply to a letter i sent him in 2001 i think,of which he said in a nice letter that it was one of his fvorite cars but had no pics, they had been lost in various house moves, and the emails ive sent were asking him much the same question really, hes obviously very busy(like us all) but if you know him well enough i would love yyou to,you see i have no history of it being a pace car apart from the photo posted above, and would like some more pics to enhance the reason for me doing it these colours rather than the original silver it used to be of which i have plenty of photographic evidence to support that fact. Many thanks for your support

Some great info on here.... guess the OP may have seen this?

http://www.thetvlounge.co.uk/professionals/viewtop...

"COO was fitted with Ford's 'X pack'

- Bigger carb & uprated valves take bhp from 138>170bhp
- Limited Slip Differential
- Ventilated disc brakes with cooling slots
- Granada Calipers
- 'Spa' type fiberglass wheel arch extensions
- 7.5x13" lightweight RS wheels fitted with 225/60 tyres
- 1" lower ride height derived from gas filled struts and rear dampers, and stiffer springs front & rear.
- Anti-dive kit to keep the car stable under heavy braking
- Front air dam
- Rear spoiler"

"I've found the performance figures for 'COO' from Autocar magazine dated 1st December 1979. (Standard 3.0S in brackets)

Top speed 128 mph (118mph)
0-60mph 7.7 secs (8.6 secs)
Standing 1/4 mile 16.1 secs @ 87mph (16.6 secs @ 83mph)
Fuel consumption 17.7 mpg (19.5 mpg) hard driving!

Not lightning by today's standard's, but when your average car was a Morris Marina, this was quick....."

Grant,

I assume you've got all the 'Gold Portfolio', 'Performance Portfolio' etc books. Not sure what if any background stuff he may have, but back in the 90's I was involved in the making of 'Capri the legend' video and the producer was a guy caller Jamie Langton, was a producer for the Met Office back then, maybe worth a bit of a google about.

Sure I had a hoon in this car in Autumn 1981. It was owned by Newton equipment, who had a shop @ the bottom of Leytonstone high road.
