The 6.11 mentioned, above, I think. Was it in the 956 or the 962 though?

Either way, that Zonda is rather tasty and blindingly quick. Must sound a treat too! I too am looking forward to the video...if there is one wink

1. The Zonda is not road legal
2. The Ferrari you can never take home
3. The 962 is quicker round the ring than both the above
4. Dauer and others made road legal 962's
5. There are three 962's for sale here for under £700k http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/find/4100_results....

I think I would take the 962 and the 800 grand saving!

I said this on the ferrari story but a one off prototype street car derived car that is not for sale does not exactly count as a production car.

Well done zonda. that is actually a production car and i believe that surpasses the radical and takes the propper crown for a road car

Not the quickest (Bellof's is), but one of the most viewed laps for many years.

Well, thank God for that. Now I can put my deposit down knowing I have the quickest carrolleyes
These records are pretty irrelevant to all bit the small handful of people who are looking to buy such a car. It's all about the companies chasing PR. Find me a driving road where you will ever know the difference between these hypercars.

The Radical SR8 lap time was 6'55", so the Zonda R has been 8 seconds quicker.
BUT, the SR8 can be road legal (in UK and Germany at least), while the Zonda R can't.
The 6'11" record is still in Bellof's hands.
The SR8 laptime was 6.55, the SR8 LM was 6.47 or 48. I can't wait to watch this video though, thats for sure.

I think I'm in the "mildly impressed" camp, but also in the "so fking what?" camp. Yeah, it's all very impressive.... but almost completely irrelevant to anything other than making the PR guy's job a bit easier. Well done and all that, but I don't give a st.

Was the 962 that holds the record road legal?

Doesn't every car that goes on the 'ring have to be road-legal seeing as its technically a public road?

Average speed of a smidgen over 120mph, pretty crazy.

As for all of you that say you would have something else over the Zonda R, have you not heard it?!

I think the rules for "fastest Road car lap" should include driving to and from the circuit, buying a weeks shopping on the way back from a supermarket and getting a Happy Meal at a DriveThru.

As an aside, who was driving the Zonda? Top marks to anyone who Photoshops Lewis Hamilton into one giving the bird out the window to Alonso in the 599 :-)
