The story of Ferreri and Ford at Le Mans. I really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed that one too, a cracking read. Perhaps not 100% accurate though.

Other favourites I'd like to mention as this thread seems to be spreading rapidly are Janos Wimpffen's picture book series "Open Roads and Front Engines", "Winged Sports Cars & Enduring Innovation", "Spyders and Silhouettes" and "Monocoques & Ground Effects".

Vic Elford's autobiography is excellent. As a bonus you can order it from his wifes ebay store in the States and she'll get Quick Vic to dedicate it for you.

Finally a further endorsement of Doug Nye's BRM series and Mon Ami Mate. There's a lot of really excellent books out there nowadays, but some of it is starting to get expensive....

But one day I'll get a copy, take a couple of weeks off work, stock up on tea and Jaffa Cakes, and read coffee

The Racing Drivers' Manual by Frank Gardner is a good read, if you can find one. It's been out of print for ages. I lent my copy to someone and never got it back.

Not a F1 book but Viglenssen's V12 is brilliant and judging by the detail and research on that book I can imagine his other books but be very good too !

BS Levy's "Last Open Road" series of novels are another good addition to your shopping list.

They are set around the US and European sportscar racing scene of the '50s and '60s and mix real events and characters with the fictional storyline.

Each book is a bit of an epic (in terms of size) but are very readable.

He self publishes via http://www.lastopenroad.com
