Don't think we've had 1968 yet, so...

F1 - Graham Hill Lotus 49B

Le Mans - Rodriguez/Bianchi GT40

Targa Florio - Vic Elford/Umberto Magioli Porsche 907

Accepting all the points made by JYS in the excellent Killing Years programme last week, what a stunning time to be alive. Beatles & Stones still at their peak, Hendrix, Apollo...(ok, ok...student protests, Vietnam, RFK, MLK as well...)

'68 was quite a traumatic year. Don't forget the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia too.

Indeed - what was the quote someone said about the Apollo 8 mission, which was the first trip to leave Earth orbit and travel to the Moon around Christmas time, something like 'Thankyou Apollo 8, you've saved 1968'

a - there is no such thing as the "Silverstone GP". It's the British GP

b - the 1874 British GP was held at Brands Hatch
