This is Alan Jones in the Williams Ford FW07, on his way to winning the 1980 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. This was the first race after I was born, and he won the championship that same year.

Guess the year -

World Driver's Champion

World Constructor's Champion

It was one of those years where the two championships were NOT won by the same team.
1958?

Which I quite pleased about as I'd never considered it before, but it's always been one of my favourites.

Good thread. Can we find more motorsport from our year?
1975 Schnap!

Much more exciting was the WRC championship car that year though....

I was there! Aged 14. Fangio's only British race win. No meaningful motor racing the year I was born but the Spitfires and Hurricanes were winning.

I'm not (quite) that old.
This is mine:

Guess the year
1950 - Farina in the Alfa 158 and the Louis' Rosier in the Talbot Lago. Rosier Snr drove all but one hour I think...

My year is the same as the OP - Jody Scheckter and Ferrari were champions....

Anyone got a picture of an ERA? That said, even it wasn't racing in 1946. Better opt for a Dingo.
