wavey It has been a long time - hope you are keeping well.

It also seems like a long time since I was up your way (and the many occasions filling up at that pump in Thurso)!

Wick had 99 last time I visited, but that was a while ago.

You can ring Tesco and they will tell you.

I believe the Gleaner in Thurso still does 99 Ron. My parents tend to use that garage because it's the nearest one locally to them that does Super. I'll have to check with them!

I'd suggest looking on the petrol prices log site( https://www.petrolprices.com/ you may have to register) to see where places offering 99 are situated. But never forget that stations on the islands , unless things have changed recently, are often cheaper than on the mainland. e.g. filling up in Kyle of Lochalsh is dearer than going a few miles over the bridge and filling up in a station on Skye.

You nailed it! 2nd one was hard. Had my back to Skye's East coast just south of the 'old man of Storr'.
Bah! I should have got that given I knew your route included Skye - https://goo.gl/maps/X8yN3pBoyTXPg8gG8

Commiserations from me as well.

Fingers crossed, I'll be in Ullapool on the 21st along with another couple of like-minded petrolheads. thumbup

Just a thought. I never bothered as any brand of devil juice was more than plenty for my old Skoda TDI last time I was up there. .

Fuel in the Wick area/corner - what are my options for E5? Last time I was up there it was still the Shell in Thurso, but it's a Gleaner now - do they do E5? I can't see on the Tesco website if the Wick store has Momentum.

I'm only doing the NE corner, from Latheron to Tongue as part of a family history thing so not the NC500 or the west coast. Will fill up in Inverness on the way up but it would be good to know where I can get E5 if needed (car is v. thirsty)
Watch out for the pot holes on the bends at Armadale, if you have low profile tyres you stand a good chance of wrecking them and your wheels.

Ok - thought it didn't last time I visited but Red Devil's last visit is more recent than mine, so happy to be corrected!

IIRC the Gulf station just over the bridge (Kyle of Lochalsh) has a super pump...

It does, definitely tho as mentioned above, fuel is cheaper on Skye. I discovered this to my cost on Friday when it was £1.59 per litre for 95 in Broadford but too late realised it was £1.79 in Kyle.
curse

That said, in a car averaging 60 mpg it wasn't too much of a hit.

For those that didn't know, the Islands get a tax break from the Scottish Gov.

Just a heads up, the Torridon Inn and Hotel are closed to non residents this year if you want to eat. The Inn is open for drinks.

Brexit mostly to blame, as they can no longer get staff. Pandemic hasn't helped.

Search on petrol prices shows a few places in and around Broadford with super unleaded.

Don't know about RAC, but AA APP shows map of stations/how much and where & what they sell.
