Hi Folks - question for all (perhaps mainly Mr Carter!)
Staying at Ben Damph estate (Shieldaig/Torridon area) in April and was wondering what the best options are for the food shop. Most likely going to do a big shop in Inverness on the way up.
Do Tesco do delivery to the area? Looks to be a few local shop options.
Yes, Tesco deliver, but they get fully booked, so get in quick (They book 4 weeks in advance). As mentioned The Torridon Stores sells most essentials... Shieldaig shop is a bit rubbish these days.Staying at Ben Damph estate (Shieldaig/Torridon area) in April and was wondering what the best options are for the food shop. Update. Due to Easter, Tesco are now taking bookings further out. Mrs Get just booked 17th April.Staying at Ben Damph estate (Shieldaig/Torridon area) in April and was wondering what the best options are for the food shop. Most likely going to do a big shop in Inverness on the way up.

Also worth noting that Tesco do a 'click and collect' with a 2 hour time slot at the back of the Torridon Hall.

Thanks for the info that’s very useful. We stayed in Lochinver last April (driest spring in years!) and had local shops minutes walk away and the Ullapool Tesco just 40 mins.
We have a 6 month old that wakes up regularly in the night so she Mrs R is going to have a look in the wee hours when they get released.
We are both 30 later this year, so considering booking in for a meal at the Torridon, if you think it s still worth it?
Also is that drone footage of Glasnock house? Think we have looked at staying there a few times.

The Torridon just got a Michelin star, so the food is, as you would expect very good but very expensive (the wine list will make your eyes water) and the vibe in the dining room is a bit 'hushed'. You can eat in the Inn, which is pricey but nowhere near the hotel's costs, and it's less formal. You'll have to book with both, and if you want to book the hotel you might find it's residents only (depending on how many staff they are short of!).We have a 6 month old that wakes up regularly in the night so she Mrs R is going to have a look in the wee hours when they get released.

Applecross Inn = great pub grub, and the cafe/restaurant in Diabaig is worth visiting (though check its website to see when it's open - it has odd hours)

- Went in April 2018. Well worth the 19 mile round trip there and back - https://maps.app.goo.gl/Yxv82t9DVZJdDqQK7The view from the Bealach na Gaoithe (Pass of the Wind) is an added bonus. Any excuse for a pic.

The whistle stop Cafe in Torridon village itself is brilliant, fish Fridays especially. They aren’t open every night though and will be busy when they are, so book in advance if planning something outwith The Torridon. If it’s good enough for a certain Gordon Murray then it’s good enough for most I’d say.
Wintery daunders over the ''second most dangerous winter road in the UK".
Beautiful, even in poor weather.
My other learning today is that ev's are brilliant on hairpin bends...

Sounds good to me as I won't be in Scotland until May
We're doing something a bit different this year, crossing Dumfries & Galloway before heading to Argyll, then on to Fort William via the roads the other side of the Corran Ferry. Finishing with a walk up Nevis.
My biggest concern is the state of the potholes. Last time I was on the A702 the surface was in an absolutely shocking state. Does anyone have any insight into any repairs over the last year?
