One last thing. Head east from Tremp on the C-1412B if you have the time heading for Isona and then take the L-511 to Coll de Nargo. Epic road of tight corners fab tarmac and fabulous scenery.

I could go on and on and on ........ enjoy smile

The Col D'Aubisque absolutely has to feature in your route driving
true, but be wary of wild horses running across the road at the top of the preceding Col Soulor; a section better on 2 wheels than 4.

Also if the locals are telling you to slow down, heed the advice. You may come face-to-face with a road full of sheep, some 80+ metres deep being moved along by the shepherds. So sit tight, engine off and try not to worry about the possible wool or ram horn damage.

As for roads, anywhere will do.

Guys,

Thanks a lot for the insights... In the end opting for the following..

we do Santander -> San sebastian.. need to keep it short and effective for the wife to visit the town.. no real optionality there.. i think in the very early morning i might do Santander picos de europa on my own.. if i feel strong..

From San Sebastian should get interesting - Basically pop over into france to find the col du pourtalet and up in Larrede where we stay. I read the col is pretty nice.

From there we loop around north around Biescas and Broto and then classic N-260 towards La Pobla de Segur where we spend 2 nights...

so could do one day the loop nort to Viella and on the other day the Tremp -> Coll de Nargo road

From there east to Olot.. following either 260 or through Coll De Nargo.. but then staying north on the N260 all the way to Olot - unsure here if there's any valid alternatives.. but the N260 on paper looks decent.

Last schlep is Olot to Barcelona.. doubt there's much in terms of alternatives.. but if you have any recommendation happy to hear..

any last minute recommendations don't hesitate !
