taking all day to drive down in the TVR S1.

Looking to keep motorways to a minimum.

Thoughts on a route please as not strayed away from motorways below Derbyshire before.

10hrs max

You could take 10 hours just diverting through the Yorkshire Dales, Forest of Bowland and the Peak District, never mind using stuff south of Derbyshire. Alternatively you could head more down the eastern side of England over the Moors to Malton on the B1257 then head towards the Humber bridge and go through Lincolnshire and down to Essex. You can usually get a few decent roads that way but I'd need time to look at possible routes as again ten hours isn't a lot to do pretty much the full length of England while avoiding motorways/duel carriageways

Especially not with Google Maps reckoning on 5.5hrs to do the motorway run.

TBH, I'd be tonking it, and using any spare time to do some exploring in the South Downs.

yeah - would probably look to do the first 150 miles then take a more scenic route if possible (line across from Derby approx0

+1 on Lincolnshire. smile My sister lives near Brigg.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Essex to reach Goodwood though.
Not sure where on Teesside the OP lives: have taken the B1257 as the start.
Part 1
Part 2
Only 2 stretches of d/c: A1 Colsterworth -> Wansford & A1/A421 St Neots -> M1.

that looks interesting - starting from Northallerton so would join your route at Helmsley (Have done the B1257 lots of times)

What app did you use? Does it use data while following it?

Google Maps. I have no idea about data because I don't bother with it. Once I have plotted the route I just transfer the road numbers/place names* to post it notes, stick the stack to the dash, and peel them off as I go. Very low tech and I have yet to get lost. smile

 * I use Google Street View to check what's on the sign posts if there are any unclassified roads on the route.

Have you driven this route?

Not as a single route per se but I have driven most of it at some point over time.

For example I did the M180/A180 junction to the A1/A47 junction last weekend.
Overton to Petersfield last month and Petersfield to East Lavant in March.
Otoh, others not for several years (e.g. Malton to the Humber: not since 2011)

Why do you ask?

Like to know if these are nice roads from someone's personal driving and not from a keyboard warrior.
