I'd love some recommendations on some nice pubs or restaurants on or near some nice roads in South Wales area. Looking to get out of Cardiff with some friends. Some on bikes and some in cars so just looking for somewhere we can meet up and grab some food and a drink together. Probably within an hour or so from Cardiff for some evening drives out.
I know the pelican down at ogmore is always a good one, but there must be loads more.
Thanks for any tips.

Head up to Talybont on Usk. It's in the heart of the Beacons so great roads guaranteed. Two pubs there, The Star and The White Hart, both have a great choice of craft ales and beer gardens on the canal. I thought the food was better in the White Hart but it's really pubs grub stuff. I think there's a couple of restaurants there as well if you'd prefer.

The road that the Pelican is on is good but only lasts 3 miles or so before becoming poorly sighted. it's also quite busy. I'd head to the Beacons for proper driving roads.
