Monaco/nice/italy

Hi guys,
Heading to Monaco in a few weeks. Looking for some decent roads around there.
I've "done" the Napoleon" N85, Verdon, Cannes coast before. So looking for recommendations to the north, Turini, St Martin, or into italy.
Hire car, probably a base model focus unfortunately. Needs to have some pleasant villages etc to keep wife and kids happy though!
Cheers in advance.

I live in Nice so know the area pretty well. I'd recommend driving up from Menton to Sospel, then taking the D2204 in the direction of Breil-Sur-Roya. You can then go as far North as you wish - anything up to Limone Piemonte is normally very good. Most of those roads will provide stunning scenery and even at peak times they're more or less empty.
I've done the Col de Turini a few times and found much of it too narrow and too busy: the above route is a lot less touristy and as a result a lot more enjoyable IMO.

Got to admit when I did my Euro drive Turini disappointed me, like you say its very narrow in parts plus the road surface had pot holes all over itI've done the Col de Turini a few times and found much of it too narrow and too busy: the above route is a lot less touristy and as a result a lot more enjoyable IMO.
You need to do the D2, Col de Vence if you haven't already. Absolutely stunning and deserted when I drove it a couple years ago.

An incredible little run is on the D2202, the stretch from Guillaume to Daluis is absolutely incredible. The shear drops and the fact the wall at the side of the road is only about a foot high means you need a pair of big ones to go at it at speed. I only came across it by accident after I couldn't go over a couple of mountain passes and had to do a detour.
