Hey guys,

My first post here. I've seen this category "roads" which seems the correct one where to post this kind of questions.

I've seen pictures and videos of so many amazing roads around UK, especially Wales like the EVO triangle. The only issue is that they are quite far away from where I live (West London). Too far to just have some fun and stretch a bit the muscles of my car (obviously under the limits and in respect of the law).
I'm looking for something around here that (is not necessarily as amazing as Snowdonia) but where could be safe to remove TC (no drifting!) take some nice dirty curves and test a bit the car without incurring in a speed camera every 500yards. I do not want to go fast, I just don't want to have my eyes checking the speed all the time like I do in the city.

Any suggestion is super welcome biggrin

Thanks

Alvise

Thanks! But it's a track, I have then to pay for a track day insurance. it's not something I can do few hours during the weekend or can I ? I didn't see any trackday during the weekend.

What I was meaning it's a proper road..

Everything in the southeast is now so overcrowded and overcameraed, proper good roads are rare. Get up at 3am and do the M40 and Chilterns run is one option.

The SE has a lot of people and cars in not much space. This is a basic truism.

There ARE some nice roads around, if you know where to look. If people tell you publicly where to look, everybugger and their dog will then clog those roads.

Get a map, go and explore.

Not got a clue about anything near London, all I can advise is plan a route using maps and tips from locals to you on here and get up early as you can! I am lucky to have North Wales, the Dales and Peaks all under an hour away and they can get busy as the day goes on. To be honest I would't want to be on the EVO triangle on a weekend afternoon.

Dawn raids are the only time I really go for a drive.

Yep....or spend some time on Google maps and explore via the real view to see if the road has potential or not and then make up a route and go and explore.......at 5am though.

Because, as said, pretty much everywhere in the south-east is a rubbish road at just about all other times.
Its one of the reasons why I didn't replace my 135i with a M3.....just didn't seem any point, the performance of the 135i was such that it was pointless for 97% of the time it was driven in and around the south-east....let alone a M3!
I hate to admit it, but driving around the south-east in a X5 is now so much more relaxing frown

Head west through Berkshire into Oxfordshire mile after mile of driving pleasure. Empty B roads criss crossing main roads through the Cotswolds. Hendon police driving school use them for a reason.

+1

The only decent thing about going to IKEA is that I get to head North from Aylesbury and enjoy some decent roads (even if I am being told to slow down). As above, if you can get out before the rest of the world, it's much better.

I know you've only posted once so hoping the second one comes smile

I'm in Essex and wouldn't mind exploring this route. I'm just checking it out on Google and there's various routes, if you have the road names to hand that would be great.

Thanks.

Donington Pk is a great track for an M3 (did it a few times in an E46).

Other than that, you need Highland Scotland. wink

Good for cars and bikes, used to use it when I had my RX-8 and heading off to Brum, best go early, as I only use it for the bike now. Good excuse for taking the other half to Bicester shopping village.

Plenty of fun to be had in the area bounded by Hertford-Cheshunt-Potters Bar-Hatfield. That's where I go (north London) when I fancy a quick hoon.

Not quite as much fun as the roads in my native Yorkshire, but good enough.

The A424 ends 6 miles short of Broadway.

Fish Hill is on the A44.

There are some cracking roads in West Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire
For example the 4Bs box* (Bicester, Brackley, Broadway, Burford).
From the A43 (as above)- https://goo.gl/maps/GDCsHE6VNKm.
The loop from Aynho can be done either way round (I prefer clockwise: YMMV).
Then head back to London joining the M40 at J5 (Stokenchurch).

 * Several alternatives are available within those boundaries. smile

Outside of that box one of my favourite roads is the 3Bs.
The B4425: Burford -> Bibury -> Barnsley -> Cirencester
